The quick answer is 'the same as the original tyres'.
This keeps everyone happy (insurers etc) Other options can be fitted if you accept that you ought to tell your insurer. |

I assume you know it is not recommended to run a mix of run-flats and non run-flats, even on different axles. xDrive compounds the issue, as the RC can be compromised with a different tyre characteristic. If you are still in warranty, that's something else to think about.

I cant find any non run flats with 89y load and speed rating! all of them seem to be 93y xl.
my local fitter said it would be ok to change the front 2 and change the back when required. giving me non run flats on the front and run flats on the rear. car is out of warranty but I have the extended BMW warranty! |

Have a look at the GoodYear Eagle AS3. The load rating (93) is higher and that's OK. Speed rating should be Y
What you do need to check is with BMW that non run flats can be fitted to your wheels. No t all wheels will take non runflats. |

Won’t standard BMW wheels all take non runflats? Mine are just normal m sport 18’s and I just assumed it would be ok to get rid of the run flats when they wear out.

This was one of the first questions I asked my dealer and he said fitting non-run flats are fine and will not affect warranty, however they recommend run flats because the suspension has been adjusted for run flats

Yes, non run-flat tyres can be fitted to EH2 or EH2+ rims, which are used for run-flats. The Extended Hump (EH) sections support the run-flat beads from moving into the inner rim when deflated.

When I mentioned changing to non run flats to my dealer, he went and checked for me saying not all wheels can take both. |

There used to be confusion, but most got it the wrong way around, you can't fit RFTs on all rims out there. BMW use EH2 rims for RFTs, and they accept both tyre types.
