Audi coding
A friend of a friend recently bought an Audi and asked if there was any way he could code it.
I told I only know about BMWs but I could ask for him. Does anyone know how he can do it himself, the Audi equivalent of Bimmercode essentially?

You need VCDS which I have used on my A6. It's not free (£300 for the pukka version) but you can get snide versions complete with cable on eBay for about £50. As it's more of a commercial product it's a bit easier to use that ESys but it's expensive if you only want to do a few tweaks. I'm not aware of any free software to code Audis.

I've used VCDS on my old TT.. I got a genuine ross tech cable for about £250 and then when i sold the car i sold it on ebay and got £300 for it... so worth getting a genuine one (and not a hacked/ copy) as they generally wont lose any value.

As overs have stated best way to go with VAG coding is the Rosstech VCDS(VAGCCOM) easy to set up and use and great support from Rosstech, buy direct from them yes it costs but it never looses its value. I had it when I owned my Golfs and Passat sold when I got my first BM for what I paid for it, it's a lot easier going than the BMW equivalent hence why now I've gone bimmertech.

I had VCDS (formerly know as VAGCOM) and it's a lot easier to use now. In the early days it was binary coding long codes of 0's and 1's but with VCDS common options are there and coding is a little easier. I gave the genuine kit to my nephew who bought a Golf R. After I vowed never to buy VAG again. His R got nicked and cable was in the boot. He has a replacement R now but uses Carly upon my recommendation. He said Carly is easy to use but lacks diagnostics compared with VCDS.
