Hello everyone, first time poster on this subject. I want to start off by thanking everyone who helps out.

My unit is brand new and running 1.5.7 software and is installed in an E70.

My main issue is my inability to get any media player outside of the built in version to see my media files. I have about 50 gigs worth of MP3 files and it simply chokes out the default player (WitsKswMedia). I have tried having the music in an SD card (which increases boot time) and moved them to the internal flash, but I still can't get any players to see them.

Ideally I would like to get Amazon Music to see the offline files the same way my Samsung S10+ does.

I would also like to get Alexa working as the voice assistant instead of Google, but the app crashes immediately after launching. Using OK Google causes both the HU and my phone to spring into action everytime I say the command.

Bluetooth implementation on different Android devices is inconsistent. For example for quite some time Samsung phones could have been connected to multiple Bluetooth devices at the same time, while Google Pixel phones could not. Now with Pixel 4 (which I own) Google allows to have multiple connections, however this is not very consistent in my opinion. I've experienced some issue having connected wireless headphones and car stereo at the same time. Every time I would receive or make a phone call, Bluetooth connection would drop.

I think it very much depends how multiple Bluetooth connections feature was implemented by each manufacturer. Sadly this is the downside of Android devices - inconsistence between different brands.

most updates at the moment came from mercedes headunits, it seems at the moment they focus on this cars.
my bmw sellers share jumped from 1.3.0 to 1.6.4 so also had not the updates in between.

The 3.9.8 Update is also not that old so there for sure will come some updates again.

Hmm, there should be no difference when only updating Android, have you also updated MCU ?

Did you try to do a factory reset after the upgrade?
Sometimes this helps in solving strange issues

Yes, I did a factory reset in the first instance when I noticed the problem. Additionally, all the Factory Menu options relating to the iDrive system are now gone (I think I remember there being an option for iDrive type A or iDrive type B).

Is it possible this was a non-BMW update? Is there any harm/is it possible to revert back to 1.5.7?

Edit: I've just got back in my car and the iDrive system is working fine now for some reason. Thanks so much for your help!

I think the setting you might be looking for is Settings>System>Camera Selection>OEM Camera.

Reverse camera display is not an Android application, it is part of the MCU. But you can try to downgrade ksw_mcu.bin to an older version !! But beware, only CORRECT ksw_mcu.bin for your unit !!

Only at your dealer, two older files are circulating on the net, but only dGS-CIC-GTL-191127. However, you can try them at your own risk.
