Frequency intelligent exhaust quality is crap

So I've been a very big advocate for frequency intelligent exhausts since I bought mine. It's a shame this experience is leaving such a sour taste in my mouth.

The exhaust was built very early on as it's serial number 005. Their system looks to have undergone changes since mine in regards to the remotes, tips etc. The sound was awesome with a downpipe and I was super happy.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and we pull the exhaust off the car to part out and notice cracks in the welds. We go to move it across the shop and it literally snapped in half where the midpipe and muffler were welded.

You'd think they'd back their product up since you would want more then 2 years out of an exhaust that retails for 3600 right... wrong.

They say it's out of warranty, though there is no documentation anywhere I've seen about a warranty, and the best they will do is throw a 45 percent off coupon.

Super bummed and throwing a warning out there to not waste your money buying their products. Such a bummer.

FWIW Could just be the pictures but the welds don't look all that great.

Welds do look like garbage but also that is an easy repair so it's not like you have to replace it.

Agree its just exhaust pipe & an easy fix, most likely not worth the time or expense of shipping it back & forth for a warranty claim.

Curious why the system is so expensive, $3600. What does the rest of it look like?

For that money, I would also be pissed. Regardless of the fact that it can be repaired.

Thanks for sharing, add them to the list of garbage vendors.

It's valvetronic that's the grunt of the cost and why I went with them in the first place

OK you will have to excuse me because I don't know the vendor. The BMW engine has a valvetronic system, the motor replacement for a E90 is about $200 DIY.

How does your exhaust interface with that, do they add software or new modified motor?

Sorry, basically it utilizes the vacuum lines to have a valve that can open and close via remote or on an auto mode based on engine rpm.

If your catless and don't want to wake the neighborhood it's extremely helpful. Or if you just want to shut it up. Most systems just scream all the time and this one gave you flexibility. Armytrix, IPE, and GT HAUS also do similar systems

Hey, thanks for the info. Interesting or not interesting point for some. I have my COBRA programed the same way but its fully electronic.

My street performance daily driver is as quite as no mufflers can be in the neighborhood. Other programs tend to up the idle noise. Similar function of altering the cams timing & duration. Somewhat noisey one for cars/coffee & shows in the vid.

https://youtu.be/_fJysY168Zk

That one is a bit rough on DD but my track program is nice & docile at idle. Just move power further up & extends the useable RPM range to 7500.

I'm just imagining what would have happened if you hadn't removed it and ended up hitting a big bump or something over the next 6 months. Might not be that big a deal upon removal but indicates there could be a big problem for people using it for an extended period of time.

I wonder if they used all the appropriate exhaust hangers? that could have been a point where too much weight was suspended over that distance.

I agree, I'm happy this didn't turn out to be catastrophic, but I'm not happy in general with everything at this point. There are quite a few people on the m3/4 side running this exhaust and I'm sure they would be livid if something like this happened

It snapped in half at the midpipe I'm not sure how repairable that is

The welds look like a kid did them in highschool shop class. Compare those to the welds on something like a supersprint exhaust and you'll see the difference
