12.10.19 Final Update - Warranty Denied. DIY upgrading transmission to a USED ZF8HP70

Getting bracket on Monday Fingers crossed it bolts up no problem

Looks like bracket is delayed due to the holidays.

Edit: Figured out TCU Flash and everything had to flash alpina B3 TCU Flash. Not D3. Car shifts perfect and now all I am waiting on is the correct crossmember to complete this swap. Will update with more info when complete.

Sure will assuming the transmission tunnel is the same. Only problem for you will be to figure out which bracket you will need aka t he transmission crossmember. I used a 328i one you may use another type. The way i found out was by trial and error. I believe it depends on what engine chassis combo you have.

Yeah, if the crossmember is the only problem, worst case it could be fabricated.

So after bolting everything up, what's the coding process like? Do you have to "delete" the software on the TCU and reflash it with something else?

I had someone reset thr ISN security rolling code for me than it works like magic. However since it is a zf8hp70 of a diesel you must cash to alpina b3 NOT D3 software

Wow nice work. I had a whining noise from differential, my warrranty was expired 3 months ago. They offered me 50% discount on replacement. Never had any warranty issues with the tuning...

Very interesting work here! I'm having a problem with my transmission not going into 3rd gear when launching it. I've been drag racing a bunch and think it's the beginning of hardware failure. How is the hp70 holding up for you? There are a few shops that build them and I already spoke to southern performance in new orleans about it, they have never touched a bmw but are no strangers to zf. Have you contacted hp tuners about possibly tuning our bmw zf? I have a feeling more might be coming if mine is busted.

This is really amazing work. I somehow ended up down this rabbit hole after watching a youtube video to "flash your BMW with Alpina tuning software" only to discover I have the wrong transmission. So you basically turned your 3 series into an Alpina for a fraction of the cost.

With regards to coding for diesel or petrol, am I understanding correctly that you have a gas engine with a 'diesel' transmission? I'm confused if there is a physical difference in the zf8hp70 or if its just the coding you needed to do.
