BM3 - Flashed back to stock and got 21A02D Error

Hi everyone, I have a 2016 340 with BM3 stage 1 @58k miles.

Some background:
Recently, I had the PCV valve tear issue and brought it to a local shop to fix. Initially, I intended to bring my to a dealer because I have an extended warranty through Ally. So I thought that I may need to detune it back to stock, in case they say it's related to the tune.

However, I started encountering this fault 21A02D error once I flashed back to stock. I tried going back to stage 1, but it's still jerky and lagging on initial start up and going into gear. Especially when I reverse and then back into D. Other than that, engine feels great once it gets over the initial lag.

I did search the forums and found some saying I need to update software with ISTA or perform reset valvetronic adaptations.

I don't have access to ISTA - Can I reset it with bootmod3?

Thanks for your help!

You won’t be able to technically reset the dme with bootmod3 they way I think you might. You could attempt to flash the tune back and see if the fault returns. If not maybe the stock flash file is somehow corrupt…in which case ISTA would be the equivalent of doing a software reset on a smartphone.

Maybe try checking in with your Indy shop to see if they have the software to flash your car back to stock? Also did you run different gapping for your spark plugs when you ran the tune?

Thanks for your input, I also suspect the bootmod3 stock flash was bad or had a older version. I didn't change the plugs at all, still stock
