This is with the MHD 95 octane (102 RON) Stage 2 OTS map and using an E30 fuel made by adding 7 litres of United E85 pump fuel (98 RON fuel plus 85% ethanol, 107 octane) to 13 litres of BP 98 RON (93 octane) fuel for an octane of 98. My car is an M140i, ZF8 auto trans, rear drive only and has a weight of about 1500 kg (3300 lbs) The sports displays don't mean anything, they are just made up numbers determined by the data in the DME, adjusted by the tuners. You could use Virtual Dyno to get a more accurate measure of power/torque.

I tried straight 98 RON (93 octane) on the Stage 2 102 RON (95 octane) map first. Results are here https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=104
This was an earlier version, 2.7, then moved to E30. Back then 98 RON made about 390 WHP or about 430 engine HP. With the V3 Stage 2 map and E30 blend at 98 octane it is about 430 WHP or about 480 HP engine. Using 98 RON you will have less ignition timing advance and lose the benefit the ethanol provides with knock resistance, oxygenation and cooling etc. 100 RON only provides a small increase in octane. You should try both and see. It will be safe. You can always switch back to a lower stage map if you are concerned.

Hi jbb2388
Yes all stock. That said given our awful fuel here in Cali (91 is the best we can get) I do mix in e85 to achieve an e30 blend whenever I can. If I can't get to e85 I just drive the car a bit easier (the tune adapts) or I simply drop it to stage one which on my tune is designed for 91 I hope this helps! Happy to answer any additional questions. |

Curious if anyone has any data for running these tunes at higher elevation. I probably won't bother going above stage 1 for fear of killing the turbo, but I'd be interested to see datalogs and dynos from someone here in CO who's done it. I've seen a few Q50/60 Redsports kill their factory turbos with just a tune, though they push the turbos pretty hard from the factory. PCI might be a big advantage up here.
