Speed Limiter '' LIMIT ''

Dears,

I have been on an open road during this weekend; and wanted to push my LCI_330i to top speed!

It was easy for the car to hit the 250 km/h and I've noticed that speed kept going beyond that until it almost hits a flat-out 260 km/h

My first question is; I thought that the Spped-Limiter will cut-off the engine to prevent it from going over the LIMIT,

Second question; if I coded the limiter to be off and the can go up to higher speeds (as engine RPM was still between 5000-6000) how much speed can the B48 with 252ps reach? and this will need a digital speedo activated of course

Thanks

It will only give you an audible warning "chime" or ring when you've reached your preset limit. It won't physically interfere with the engine, brakes, throttle or any other operational aspect of the vehicle.

I think the OP is talking about the factory top speed limit.

They really should raise the top speed limiter to be like the B58, it's pretty much the same chassis and can handle the higher speed. I read on the forum that the top speed limiter can only be removed within 10 hours from the time of ECU installation at the factory. I would think it could be removed with a reflash. They actually advertise the higher top speed limiter on the 340i as a feature you should be willing to pay more for lol. Why not just make all f30s the same?

Most bimmers in the states are limited to 130mph
if you have option 840?(usually w/msport) then its upped to 155mph
in Germany they take off the limiter
supposedly within 10 hrs you can option off the limiter via coding
which to me logically cannot happen unless its done the last day of production on the assembly line.. who gets delivery that early?

The limit is based on the speed rating of the tires.

My tires are rated for up to 180 Mph because they are pirelli p-zeros, same ones as on the Ferrari 458. However, the door jam indicates at standard tire pressure you should not exceed 100 mph. There is a higher tire pressure recommended for speeds above 100 apparently. Also, if the customer decides to upgrade the tires they should be able to set a higher speed limiter via the i drive. 133 MPH seems like a very low rating for sport sedan tires.

To get the Higher speed limiter, the vehicle must have been originally ordered with "Mixed Performance Tires" or "Mixed Performance Summer Tires." This automatically adds the "Increased Top Speed Limiter" raising the limit to 155 MPH. This gives you the 8.0" wide front and 8.5" wide rear tires. This is an "840" option on RWD and "ZRT" option on the xDrive. It is usually found with M-Sport option as it has the largest selection of Rim choices with Performance Tires but some Sport versions do exist but are more difficult to find. If you find 19" OEM rims installed, these are most likely to have the higher speed limiter. The dealer should be able to find out for you to be sure.

I ordered a 340 with x drive and it has the 840 option. If think the zrt option is of they remove the limiter completely.

Hmm...thought my window sticker showed speed limiter removed/changed. Regardless, with the flash tune, it's not there anyway .
