I'm probably one of the edge cases where the higher quality fuel is essential. I can tell just by looking at timing and logs if I'm using a naff fuel and my tuner told me I'd swapped from Esso to Momentum and asked what was wrong.

I used to use momentum. It is mainly okay, sometimes EPIC and sometimes it seems like it's dogs piss. Vpower is consistantly good but expensive.

Shell bringing this out has been a bit of a game changer. It's cheaper than Shell and far better than momentum. It's as good as vpower but with the added bonus of being zero ethanol. This means I can add ethanol at home or at the pump to bring it up to E10 and at the same time bring the octane up by a bit over a point.

I've tested all of the 99 fuels neat or with ethanol added to E10 and honestly on my car the momentum needs a good few litres of ethanol to make a clean log most of the time.

When running at E30-E40 the shell is impeccable.

I'd say my car is a bit of an edge case with how highly mapped it is but it sure does notice the difference.

I've always used v-power in mine, I have no idea if it makes any difference but I guess I'm just a victim of their marketing/forum views. As others have said, hopefully it will at least keep the engine cleaner with the additives.

I did watch this video the other night though... I might switch to esso!

One thing I noticed straight away when moving to v-power was the pronounced pops and bangs with the downpipe/open valves. So it definitely does something to the car

I've been putting V Power in mine for the 15 years I've owned it for now… think I've only had to put an alternative in about 3 times! Engine still runs as smooth and sweet as ever. Whether that's down to the fuel or not who knows but I'm a stickler for a tank of V Power!
