12.1@113.8 - B58 X3 Tune Only 1/4 Record - Mission Performance

Hey guys,

I know there isn't much stuff on the B58 in the X3 but figured I would cross post this here for some other folks to get to the track and get some times

So I have been meaning to head to the track and get some new times now that I have the MP Stage 2 ECU and Stage 1 TCU tunes. And since today was a nice day in New Hampshire I decided to head on up.

First off big shout out to Alex @ MP for answering me over the weekend if I needed to do anything special for the 100 octane.. short answer.. nope, just fuel up and go

Car Details
2018 X3 M40i
Mission Performance Stage 2 Engine Tune
Mission Performance Stage 1 Trans Tune
100+93 Octane (adjusted for 95 octane tune)

Everything else stock - air filter, exhaust, spark plugs, all stock! 4435 lbs race weight (I weigh 190)
Running All Season Tires too

Track Details
New Hampshire Dragway
Temps. 64-67* F all day
DA + 392 to + 668 FT (using phone app, dragtimes put DA at +1600 and seems high)


Breakdown for all runs
12.363@112.44 (spun a bit off the line)
12.101@113.81
12.133@112.65
12.145@112.85
12.185@112.44
12.124@113.47

Consistent? I think so... and also didn't have to load a new tune, change out x, or do anything special, literally just get there and run

Best Run - 12.101 @ 113.81

Overall I am quite impressed with just being able to throw a tune on and get close to 11's

I believe with a better fuel pump and some E85 this SUV will hit 11's all day. (or some good negative DA)

Question for you, is your MP tune modified for 100 octane? Or is it just the regular ~93oct stage2 tune, self adjusting to 100 octane?

Damn, almost 114 mph at 4435 lbs, with driver! An M240i or 340i should be trapping close to 120, all things equal.

It is not, this is the “OTS” tune that everyone gets, nothing special at all and self adjusts from 93.

Makes me wonder what’s left on the table

Wow, great times.

Is there some different with MP's tune that it self adjust to 100 Octane? Or will other OTS tunes do the same?

Those are some great times for sure and I love seeing an SUV go down the strip that quick!

The tune you have is not really OTC since we don't sell those. Yours will adjust to about 94/95, but that is where we put the limit on that function. Since you run 100, we can run a bit more timing and inject fuel few degrees earlier to get you some more top end and maybe get your car into the 11s. That would be a specific track day flash for you, as I would not recommend running that daily on 93.

Thanks Alex!

I meant OTS (still new to the BMW lingo) as in I didn’t data log or do any dyno pulls and have you adjust it 👍🏼

No problem! Every tune starts off like OTS/OTC (whatever it's called these days) as a foundation. But what our tool does is read your adaptation parameters, environmental variables, and so on and adjusts that flash during the writing. This is why we say to have jb4 removed from your car for at least 50 miles before flashing.

But you are right, there are a lot of room left on your car. Your logs looked good, but with that fuel you can run as much as 14degress of timing (you are at only 10 I believe). Though let's limit at 12 or 13 to be safe.

Ahh yes the fuel pump upgrade :-) I know Alex (grassy) is running a slightly modified fuel pump courtesy of Alex (MP) however from what I understand what Alex is getting ready to test and subsequently bring to market will be all that much better.

Did someone say "live dyno session again"

Awesome. I think I am going to do the trans tune myself this week. Alex has been great answering all my stupid questions on just the stage 1 tune I have now.

Thinking about stage 2 but I don’t plan to change anything else in the car. Hopefully the iOS app comes out soon. Looking forward to that as well

Trans tune is an really great upgrade. The additional torque and faster shifts are awesome to say the least.

Highly recommend and easily lowers your 0-60 times.
