Blackvue MIFI Solution
Hi All,
So I've recently fitted blackvue dr900s with blackvue battery B124 While the battery pack is working perfectly powering my dashcams i'm trying to figure out the best way to power my mifi device (EE Wifi mini 2) At the moment, i've connected the mifi to a usb port in the center console so it only charges while i drive. I've found the mifi empties it's battery well before my cameras go offline. Question is: 1) Will it be safe to connect the mifi device to an always on fuse then fit it with power magic pro so that the power is cut when the car battery level gets too low. The mifi device has a 4300 mAh battery so i'm not sure if its safe for it to be always charging ? 2) Should i connect the mifi device to a powerbank and charge the powerbank at home every couple days? 3) Any other mifi devices on the market that will solve this issue? Thank you! |

I'm pretty sure my powerbank cannot charge a device whilst being charged it self. So in theory: My powerbank is charging while driving. Mifi running off own battery. Then when car is turned off, the powerbank charges the MIFI. Thank you I will give this a go |

I guess how long will you need the mifi powered up for? I used to use an old iphone tethered to my thinkware just sat charging in the cradle... this would last about 1-2hrs then die.... which was more than enough when parked out and about.
At night my thinkware connects to my home wifi on the drive. |

I need around 9 hours for the office car park. It is gated & covered but very tight. I've walked out to damage on my previous car and because the building is occupied by many different companies it was impossible to tell who..CCTV only shows cars entering and exiting so could not find the culprit. I guess the main thing is getting the incident recorded on the dashcam, but a notification of impact so that i can get down there and catch them leave in the act would be brilliant I'm giving Somebloke idea a go today. Will report back if any issues. |

Why not look into the setting for the MiFi and see if it behaves like a phone charging? as in when full charge is reached it switches off the charging....thus Option 1 would be ideal having it hard wired via a Power Magic

Currently I've found I can't get enough juice into the powerbank while plugged into my car usb port and other side connected to my mifi. I'm now charging the powerbank at home and then connecting it to the mifi in the mornings. Seems to work ok. I do need a more low maintenance solution so will look at the mifi settings. |

Can you plug the power bank into the cigarette socket under the dash? Might be able to supply more power than a USB port.
