Installing Interior RGB Car Lighting
Hey all, I am looking into buying some interior footwell lights for the F30 (4 strips of lights installed w/ 3M tape under rear seats and under dashboard). My main concern is the power for these lights since the electronics in the F30 turn off at different times. My cigarette lighter stays on for 5-10 minutes before shutting off, but what I would like to do is wire the lights to the fuse box for a clean install.
I'm pretty sure I have some sort of ambient lighting in the footwell, but it's really dim so I'm looking into these lights (https://www.amazon.ca/MINGER-Interio...-1-spons&psc=1). They have good reviews, but the main problem with the F30 is I want to find a way that the lights will shut off when the car is shut off. Is there any known fuse that could be used that powers off at the same time I shut my engine down? I don't want these lights on after I leave my car for 5-10 minutes, as I sometimes work night shift and park my car in the parking lot, which may attract attention. |

Why don't you just tap into the power wires used by the existing footwell lights?

I just thought, since I’m running wires to all 4 sides of the car, it’ll be easy to wire it to the fusebox. |

I ran a cigarette lighter extension from trunk area to driver footwell and wired all four through center console. They turn off after 5 min from locking the car turn back on when you unlock. Works perfect!
