Portland area dealerships question

I've mostly dealt with Kuni BMW in Beaverton, as have pretty much all of the folk I personally know that have BMW's around here. Portland BMW must actually sell cars, or they wouldn't still be in business, and I'd guess Salem BMW also does OK. Is there anyone on here that has recent experience with either alternate Portland area dealership?

I prefer Portland BMW they have a friendly staff. In my opinion Kuni had terrible customer service.

My recent experiences have not been positive at Kuni, and I'm thinking of going elsewhere.

You should be pleased at the service provided by Portland BMW. The showroom and service center have been updated.

I've dealt directly with Kuni for my F30 purchase last November. To avoid the back and forth hassles, I went directly to the Sales Manager with positive results. Here's his contact below.

I prefer Portland BMW. For service, request Logan as your SA. Stand up guy that will take care of you.

Well, my car is in production. Kuni and I made up and I put the order in. Assuming everything goes smoothly when the car arrives, they still have my business for the moment. I like my SA quite a bit, and they are right up the road from my condo.

I picked up a CPO 2013 328i from BMW of Portland on 3/12. Justin Nguyen was my CA and the experience was top notch. I live in Seattle, found the car on bmwusa.com and called the dealership on 3/7. We haggled over e-mail and by the end of that day came to mutually agreeable price.

Justin e-mailed all of the paperwork I needed to sign. I signed and e-mailed scanned copies back along with scans of drivers license and insurance. I flew to Portland on 3/12, loan application was already processed and approved, car was prepped. Justin picked me up at the airport and I spent about 45 minutes at the dealer doing inspection of the car and wrapping up paperwork. Very low pressure and very accommodating.

My new BMW-M3 2008

Purchased my 2008 M3 from Kuni Beaverton. Eugene Kahn was the salesman I interacted with and he was (is) very helpful. I had a list of requests and he dealt with them in a expeditious manner. While I have not had any service dealings with service, they where able to answer my questions gracefully. I will do most of my work on my own when possible and found Mikes Auto In Cedar Hills to be able to provide basic parts, filters, break pads-rotors, oil (Castrol LL1 ) so will hope for easy drivin

Huh, old thread revived so I'll add the last year of dealing with Kuni.

The car I ordered was held at port and no one could tell me why, or when it would show up. I probably should have waited for it, but I'd had it with not getting any info. They had a nearly identically-optioned (traded Driver Assistance Plus and Adaptive LED's for actual cow seats and 19" 403's) 340ix in stock so I bought it.

The delivery was dandy, and I met a new, much more enthusiastic salesperson (Joe Taft) that helped me through the end of process. Joe was great.

Fast forward several months of the car being perfect and I had a low coolant alert and my instrument cluster freaked out while the nav was on. I dropped off the car, picked up a loaner, and didn't really hear anything for four days. On day four, a new SA (my old SA left the dealership) called freaking out about my MusicarNW sound system as they couldn't do the software upgrade to deal with the cluster issue without the HK amp. I'm not sure I buy that based on what's available online regarding how the data communication works in the car, but the audio system is setup PnP so tossing the amp in for a bit shouldn't be an issue.

He wasn't just wondering about the audio stuff, he was basically yelling at me over the phone ("SOMEONE! MAYBE YOU! INSTALLED AN AFTER-MARKET AMP!"). Maybe you. HAH! The car was four months old. Did he think someone broke into my garage in the night and dropped in amps? He left the phone call saying he'd call me back shortly after I said that I bring the HK amp down and plug it in pretty quickly. Kuni SENDS people to MusicarNW. I've discussed the systems with multiple people there with my previous car. I've never heard one twitchy word from anyone before about it.

Hours passed, no word from him, couldn't get him on the phone. I drove the loaner back to find out what was going on. It took a while for him to appear, and when he did, he was just a total dick. "I was at lunch" was the excuse, but it had been nearly an entire business day since I'd spoken with him. He also blathered on about how complicated all these new cars are "because of all the computers". Sigh.

They had checked the coolant and didn't find leaks so I just had them give me my car back. I sent an email to the service manager and the new GM, and got a minor apology.

My only other interaction was when I was looking for tires to put on my spare 18" wheels for winter. The wheels came off of a '13 so I needed new TPMS sensors. They wanted over $600 for TPMS sensors. PFFT.

I haven't set foot in Kuni since. I need to get my oil changed (one year mark but my mileage is low) and I'm just having it done and waiting next week rather than finally having the cluster software issue dealt with. I don't want to leave my car with them for any significant amount of time. Certainly, if you bring your car in and the SA is a gent in his late 40's or so named John, request another SA.

Sorry to hear about your experiences they haven't changed a bit. The body shop is no better I had them order parts a week before my car went in I go to drop it off and the had failed to order them. I drove a Nissan econo car for an extra week because of their incompetence.

I just purchased at BMW Portland and had my last service done on the old car. Ryan my SA was fantastic!

I had my oil change done with a different SA, and he was fine, but it was a simple visit (just dropped the car off and went for breakfast with my SO). I had to wait almost a month for a Saturday oil change, though. The delay didn't do anything to help my opinion of Kuni's current capabilities. I haven't worked with Ryan, but it's nice to hear they've hired at least one more good sales person.

I like Alex at Portland BMW, she's always been on point. Soon to be buying my 8th car from my sales advisor Wally; I can always count on him to stick up for me whenever needed.

I will be looking for a mom & pop station in Portland to handle my services once the 3yr free maintenance expires.

At this point in the saga, I won't be buying another car until 2019 when my lease expires (or I'll just buy the one I have because I do love it a bunch). It may well be time to try a different brand, anyway, assuming I turn this car in.

Thumbs up Portland area dealerships

Picked up a used 328 Coupe at Kuni last Fall with 19,061 miles and in overall mint condition. Mitch was a great Client Advisor .

We've also had 3 leased '5 series' cars over the years from Mike Baggs . Service has been impeccable on them and Mike is tops !
