With the badging being so subtle on the 3.5D (just small wing badges) it's great fun tackling hot hatches that think they're going to leave you in the dust
I can't wait to try the M40d with my tuning box (when they're able to reprogram it to the new engine), should be an easy 750NM!

The TRL deal looks very good. Think I'm going to get in touch with him. Thanks for posting.

Missed a trick there. All joking apart and based on the performance figures, if they gave it another 20-30hp more, it would have been a lot quicker than the M40i. And that wouldn't go down well.

They've no doubt pegged it back to keep the performance similar - given the d has a lot more torque.
The issue with quoting peak torque figures is that you get the impression that's what it has all the time, but with diesels it's there then it isn't and the engine needs to grab another gear to keep in the torque band, a petrol engine might have less torque but it has it for a lot longer.

A 3.0l petrol like the S55 may only have a peak of 550nm but is has it from 1850rpm to 5500rpm which makes much more effective than having 700nm for from 1500rpm to 2500rpm.

Hence the petrol 3.0l engine produces 430hp (and produces that for nearly 2000rpm 5.5-7.3k) and diesel only 320hp for a split second.

One thing I did notice was the 40d has a BMW contribution on 1k and the 40i does not on the TRL number?

X residuals have always been really strong. The x4 35d I used to have was 40k pre reg with a residual of 23k after 4 years.

Though they've upped the discounts compared to before so I wonder if that'll remain the case.

X3 looks nice but I don’t think he is as keen as my daughter. Think he is looking forward to her new car coming in December (nice when you can do short term leases at very good rates) which may be more 4 series than X...
Well at 2 days old and having had it's first run, the engine mgt light has come on. Call to dealers and they can't seem to fit it in for more than two weeks without him playing the "I work at H.O" card..

Should have stuck with petrol...

Oh crap that's not good!

If he calls out BMW assist the dealership will take it in straight away and he'll get an equivalent loan car from Enterprise.

I once did this with my X5 when it had an oil leak at about 2 years old. Enterprise said that they would get me a car from the same engine size group. I thought that might be quite challenging, given that mine was a 4.4, so I was interested to see what they came up with.

They offered me a 2 litre Mondeo, and when I reminded them of the 'same engine size group', the cheeky bastard said the group was 2 to 4.4 litres!

Very good point I have no idea how long it takes from going into production to being finished and arrive in the UK? It is coming from USA remember.

Haha, I don't know how long they sit around before getting on the boat, but then I think it takes 2 weeks for them to get to Germany, and then a bit longer to get to UK, but I could be wrong? :
