Alignment question

Hi folks
I am planning to have some Acs springs fitted in the next few weeks. Naturally will have alignment done. Is it best done after fitting or next done after a couple of hundred miles? Or both?

Also I am planning to have some wheel spacers 12mm on front and 15mm on back. Is it better to have alignment done with our without spacers?

Not sure whether spacers will alter values etc?

Cheers
Mani

I'd personally fit the spacers before the alignment. Spacers do change the effective spring rate, so it depends on how accurate you want the geometry to be.

Let it settle for a week or so before alignment and spacers make no difference.

Two posts. One saying that spacers affect spring rate other says no difference.

Confused

Confused
Spacers change the effective spring rate, it's simple physics. Take the rear suspension multi linkages, as you change the ride height, (compress the spring with load) the camber changes, doing so we add more negative camber. Spacers add to the leverage at the wheel, the result a softer suspension, for a given spring (spring rate). The car will be slightly lower simply by fitting spacers. Maybe small changes, but there all the same. The wider the spacer, the more we change the effective spring rate.

Look at it in an exaggerated way, add a spacer of about 300mm, the suspension would likely 'bottom' simply sitting there.

As I said, re an alignment, depends on how accurate we want the geometry calibration to be.

Planning to put them on and then have alignment.
