Loved that car, but the 4.2 V8 maintenance was going to give me an ulcer. So I sold that money pit and leased a 328i, a more economic alternative, until I could figure out what to own next. Besides, my wallet was still recovering from S4 repairs. That was three years ago. Turned in my 328i and picked out a white 340i M Sport. This time I purchased it and it will be in my garage for awhile, so I decided to upgrade a bit. 2016 340i Alpine White Black w/Dark Oyster Highlight M Sport Track Handling Package Tech Package Driver Assistance Package Lighting Package Here are some iphone pics until I get proper photos. The car is still filthy on a few shots. It was before they washed it for me. (You can see my old 328i back there!)

Very nice!
Coming from a V8 S4, how does the 340i compare in terms of power delivery and performance? How do you like it compared to the 328i you leased? |

I loved my 328i. Almost everything about it was great and the only thing I wanted to upgrade was the engine. The 340i does that job, and the M Sport and ZTR package are a nice addition. Overall I couldn't be happier, which says a lot because I think the 328i is still one of the best sedans in the world. I can actually see myself getting another 328i sometime in my life as a daily driver. It's just a great car.

Looks great. Congrats. How does it compare to the 328 and the S4?

As much as I love the 328i as an overall best car ever in terms of economy and performance, the 340i is just a totally different car altogether. The S4 was a beast, but feels heavier. Personally, I think the B58 engine is more than 320hp and is faster than my old V8 S4.

It was my DD too. Dealer took the trade as well without original timing chain and guides. I think I was at 97k with a new engine on the horizon. I would have loved to get my hands on the RS4, but that even more problems than the non-DI 4.2 didn't it? I think you will be much happier with the 335i! So much more FI potential even if you don't get that V8 grunt!
