Every time this subject comes up, it's the 205 GTI and Delta Integrale that get me. Beautiful time machines that sum up what the word 'car' means to me.

ETA - no disrespect to the other great cars in the thread, but these two are from the era where I got the bug.

Just missing a MK2 RS2000 and an Audi quattro and we'd have a full house. RS 2000 slightly older I know, but still has a place on that special list

Spot on. A white Matchbox RS2000 was a toy box hero, couldn't work out why Dad bought a 1.3 L when there was a RS to be had. And the Quattro in the hands of the real Stig was essential Grandstand viewing.

Hardly in the same exotic catagory as some on here but this is the other project car that only really gets driven in the sunshine and usually only at weekends:

2007 BMW 130i Limited Edition. 1 of 160.
265hp of glorious naturaly aspirated N52 engine, manual with plenty of rare M Performance goodies. It's proper nice and my 2nd 130i.

Yes they are a beautiful wheel. Made by BBS and only added to the 130i LE and a specific E9x at the same time but different offsets.

Somebody say RS2000 ?

Been in rebuild for many years now due to a lady driver who clattered into the back of me as I was stationary, indicating and ready to turn.. Pretty sure she was on the phone. you could literally swerve around me in a bus.

Taken ages to source parts. But getting there.

Photo before lady driver incident.

These threads always make me misty eye'd for the times in out lives when we finally got to run the cars we dreamed of running... For me, those were the E30 M3 I had back in the 90's and, then, the GT3 that I had for a while...

The thing that made both of these cars special for me was that they were both cars designed and built for a specific purpose that was not run of the mill... so they were both the sorts of cars that "car nerds" would understand and, being a car nerd myself, that suited me...

There were, when I was running each, faster, quicker, more expensive cars... but none that I would rather have been running...

I am hopeful that, in coming years, I may be able to have a second car for occasional use... Not sure it will be as highly strung as either of these... I drove past the Porsche dealer yesterday and the GT4 and GT3RS sitting outside just looked bling rather than special, to me...

I'd quite like an 80's M635i... But, wowzers, they are silly money... But I think I would be looking at something from that period, late 70's to mid 80's... maybe even something totally left-field and bonkers like a Renault GTA V6....

Both the Mk2 and Mk1 Sciroccos were really nice... and they seemed special in the range as well.. That last scirocco was an acquired taste (also hard to see out of the back if you were tall and had the bigger spoiler on it) and VW don't really do an equivalent now, do they...

My weekend car. Surprised how quick and competent it is. Surprisingly quick and handles very well. Nice noise too! And fulfilled my weird car crush....

My weekend toy (for now at least. It's up for sale to fund another)

Sorry to be "that guy" by breaking out the bike, but I am quite envious of some of the things already posted too!
