Not looking good. My symptoms match known transfer case failure symptons. My warranty is still valid, so I should be fine. I will update once the failure is verified!

For split second I thought the dealer pulled a fast one on you since diesels dont have spark plugs, but then I looked at your signature.

I got a letter today saying remedy available from my last car (F31 Diesel) my 328i had the TC go out at the same time as my diesel so I don't understand why they don't just recall all ATC35 units.

You know they're not updating anything to the transfer case itself, right?

So knowing this I contacted BMW NA and filed a complaint on the dealership right away and then I asked if they can reimburse me. And of course they gave me the run around and told me the dealership needs to handle that. But they would gladly appoint me a Conflict Officer to help with my complaint. And in one day I had the Service Manager of Palm Springs call me to fix the issue. Then 4 days after she said my reimbursement was approved. Then a week after that I got my check. Long story short, file a complaint when you know you have a case or are right!

I can't seem to add to the list. At 77k miles there was a horrendous judder from the transfer case when engaging reverse or revving at idle to 1.5k.

2015 F31 328dX went in for the recall today and will be getting a new transfer case. Dealer mentioned a number of other cars there for the same reason.

I doubt it. They're correcting the primary vibration wear failure mode with the more compliant giubo. Why would they spend all this money to have an ineffective recall?

Mine was replaced 2 months ago, does that mean I got the new guibo? Seems like nobody knows what's going on. I'm pretty sure both of my failures have been the clutch pack slipping/skipping. I had codes for the tc saying it's at its end of service life. On the diesels I know there was a water intrusion/rust issue. |

The dealership might try to say it's a different problem the second time it breaks, but that's a totally different argument.

A warranty extension on the other hand or "voluntary recall" is where if the part so happens to fail it will be covered, but I don't really see revisions for those. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

At first you seem to imply that BMW only wants to fix it under a recall 1 time and that the second time it fails, the owner will have to pay for it. Then you try to explain what a recall actually is. Please clarify your point.
