Michelin run flats

Is anyone running Pilot Sport 4 Zero Pressure on an xdrive?

I can't find BMW * marked on the Michelin website so I'm guessing they don't make them.
I don't want to run into transfer box issues as I've still got warranty and they'll just say "not star marked tyres, bugger off" if there's ever an issue.

I've shortlisted Continental Sport Contact 5 which I can get * but they're an old tyre tech and I've always liked Michelin when I've had them on other cars.

Winter tyres are going on soon so I'll be getting new rubber on the summer alloys ready for the spring....
And yes, I do have to have run flats, I can't take the risk when I'm in the Highlands 😁

Cheers guys 👍

Edit: forgot to say, 225/40/19 & 255/35/19

I have the pirelli p zeros on my M340i.. Very Good tire. Much better than the bridgestone, better ride, great ride..
I have had one puncture, and one blow out in the last 12 months however. 6 years on bridgestones, I never had any problems..

Conversely I've been mightily unimpressed with the * spec RFT Pirelli PZ4's. They have very little feel, are glidey in the damp (better in full wet, matching my experience of every other non-winter Pirelli tyre I've used over the last 20 years, but still not confidence inspiring), feel very front limited on the BMW staggered sizes, and don't even wear well to boot. At least the S001's lasted forever so could be forgiven for being so disappointing in traction terms.

Someone on here did have the Michelin PS4 RFT's TiredGeek but I can't remember who it was, they seemed to like them. Like you I need the RFT option, sadly.

I have recently got Pilot Sport 4 Zero Pressure, previously had Continental Sport Contact 5. The Michelins are so much nicer in my opinion, quieter, less rolling resistance and make the car feel completely different in a good way.

You only need to have all 4 tyre the same size dimension and transfer box will be happy.

Cheers

Yeh I'm aware, but I've got a staggered set up and afaik that's what the * mark is about. It's to confirm the front 225 and rear 255 have the same rolling radius.
I know not all tyres are exactly the same, some are slightly smaller, slightly wider, variable 225 when put with variable 255 rear can end up with the dreaded "more than 1% difference" and screw your transfer box.
Knowing my luck the Michelin 225 are small and the 255 are big 😉

Yeah, there's definitely a difference between the manufacturers which is one of the reasons you're best keeping the same brand on each axle. And then you have the complication of mixing 'normal' tyres and star marked ones. I'm not sure whether they meet in the middle to get the 225/255 matching, go up on the rears to match the fronts or down on the fronts to match the rears. The PS4S is apparently within tolerance according to Lorcan's AC Schnitzer and yet I still killed my transfer case at <60k with them (the only other tyres it had in its life to that point were *S001s). Personally I think the real issue is that the transfer case simply struggles to deal with aggressive driving (I run through rear tyres about 40% faster than fronts). I now run square for winter which makes it a lot easier to rotate them, and to make sure the diameters are the same!

Bit of a thread-jacking but after seeing that BMW and Mini are rolling back from fitting run flats, this will be my last set I think. New Mini just turned up with normal tyres and a goo pump in the boot.

Tyre goo is fine for a nail, less so for chunks out of sidewalls. And of the punctures and damaged RFT's I've had over the years, all but one have been down to holes that you could fit the nozzle of the goo can through directly (or if they hadn't been RFT would have been a hole like that). If our roads were more like they are in France and Germany I'd be a lot less concerned!

I also have the PS4 Zero pressure, RWD, and yes they are BMW * marked. Most staggered offerings will be as it's fairly niche to BMW.

Superb tyres. Best run flats I've tried by a country mile. Nowhere as raggedy and harsh as the other usual suspect RFTs.

Where did you get them from?
I looked on the Michelin website and couldn't find any mention of them, black circles et al don't offer them.....

I also have them and they are star marked but a quick check on black circles seems to indicate they only do them for 18" rims now.

Same.

Worth noting they weren't specifically labeled as BMW * homologated on ATS's website when I bought mine, but they are.

ATS also do Klarna, which helps take the sting out of an £800ish tyre change.

I believe it only needs to be within tolerance across the same axle.
I've also run x drives in the past with non star marked tyres no probs. Goodyear AS 4 or 5s are good.

I've seen comments on here about the Goodyear and bulges on the tyre from relatively minor impacts, and with the state of the roads nowadays I don't think I'll take that risk....

Michelin are my first choice if I can get star marked or Conti if I can't 👍

5 degrees this morning and superb grip from the PS4 ZPs. I might not have to dig the winters out this year
