Huh so you think its not going all the way on because it is hitting the actual pipe where it meets the flange (circled in first picture)? It looks like the pipe is not centered in the flange.

Yeah that’s what it seems like. I mean I could probably take a grinder to it, but I’d prefer to see if I can get a part that just works.

One small question I had with my VSRF cp was that the bottom piece could simply slide all the way through the silicone and into the top half if I pushed it in enough. Does it matter how close the ends are to each other? Kinda wish there was a stopping point so that there's no guesswork needed

You basically just want to make sure enough of each side (top and bottom metal halves) are into the coupler to allow the clamp to be over the "hump" - this ensures the pieces can't slide out when they are clamped. It's easiest if you put the coupler on one half leaving the maximum length for the other half (i.e., just enough to be over the flare) and clamp that side before installing either half into the car. That way you know that half is correct, then there is really no margin for error on the other side and you know you will have enough length.

I wonder how many others will reply to this with broken CPs and in disbelief since their car was stock/not stock w/ high or low miles like it's some sort of surprise thing?

It's funny because there's still new people posted about it as if it is a new discovery everyday lol. But not everyone goes on the forums and researches their car before they buy it

Hey Jeremy,
Where is the post about you wrapping your charge pipe in reflective tape? It's so cheap and easy, it should be a standard operating procedure when they replace the stock one.

I discuss it in this thread, starting on this page 2 really: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...KO-48gI&page=2

I never posted a guide or anything... I just wrapped it lol. I can post some photos if needed. I used the design engineering wrap, make sure you get the real one in the branded packaging not a knock off. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

one 2''x15' roll should be enough

You realize that not everyone is some major enthusiast that knows every inch of their car and what parts will break and when? It's not like it's a wear and tear part. It's just a piece of crap

How is that the same? If someone had told me to my face that hey, you should be careful of the chargepipe, then yea I wouldn't be surprised when it breaks.

I'm not busting your balls. I just chuckled to myself because that's something my girlfriend says to me and is completely reasonable/common.

Just found this thread as the Charge Pipe that goes from the engine to the turbo failed on my 2016 M2 I just bought. It has 32,500 miles and luckily, I have a 100-day warranty!

When I do the Catted downpipe and intercooler install, I'll make sure to also upgrade the charge pipes!
