I'll chime in. 2014 328d with a kerma tdi stage 1 tune. Have had it installed for about 35k miles now. I had to replace the o2 sensors about 5k miles ago. Could or could not be related to the tune but that's the only maintenance I've had to do so far. Happy I have the tune. But at the same time it's not really a need it was a want. The car is still slow regardless of how you look at it. I don't track mpg so that was never a concern for me. Just my two cents

I just got my 2014 328d xdrive back 2 days ago from getting deleted and tuned. The work was done by German Diesel MotorWerks. He deleted it and tuned the engine. I used xhp delete to tune the transmission several months ago. Using x delete to switch between rwd and awd, works awesome. I love the tune so far but have only had it 2 days. Completely straight piped except for stock muffler. 0-60 is mid to high 5's. But I hafta say it sounds and feels pretty good.

Originally went with Mission Tuning stage 2. Tune went relatively easy, just sent over the car information and several days later the car was ready to hook up to a PC and flash the DME. Was told I could not run a tune with the emissions equipment still intact so I bought the Buzzken Downpipe with mid section and AFE momentum GT intake. Instructions were lacking to say the least on the Buzzken. AFE instructions were great and very easy swap. Was told it shouldn't take more than a couple hours on the down pipe and mid, but 6 hours later it was on. Seemed like a quality piece but the fit and finish wasn't on par with the price tag. I.E. the welds were ok but a good deal of splatter around the area of the welds, also the cuts were definitely hand done cause they were not even. Also Ive moved it around but I got a clunk from the pipe hitting the underside of the car on startup.
Got everything tuned and installed and immediately cel light came on. Called MP and they said try unplugging the SCR module so I did and the light went away. The car felt much better than stock with a big burst of power off the line but was lackluster higher in speed and rpm. Drove it for 20k miles and had multiple issues pop up and lost several mpg " down to 33mpg from 40mpg on the avg". Called the MP and it was blamed on the car fuel pump, since it was high milage and never changed.

Found help on the forum from a member who was very knowledgeable on cars and weeded out the issues with a custom tune. "could not find any issues with the pump or injectors" Also learned the factory emissions equipment is more than capable of sustaining the extra power of a tune. With the new tune the power went from a burst to a much more linear power curve and my mpg are back up to a 40mpg avg with me beating on it.

In retrospect I wish there was more information out several years ago, cause I would have gone with something that would have allowed me to keep my factory components for the future if I were to change my mind. Now that the car is tuned, I absolutely love it! Feels like a completely different car "for the better".

Tuned with Buzzken down/mid pipe and Afe Momentum GT intake. Still has original muffler

I have a mission tune... had it for about 5 years.
I love it. Egr scr delete.

Kerma tune since last March. Very happy. Odo was at about 108k when I got it and now up at about 118k.

As others in this thread, I've had KermaTDI Tune Stage 1 and now am on to the Stage 2 + Transmission tune. Have a 2014 328d Wagon (non-msport). Both tunes improve the smiles per gallon and keeps the MPG at the same or higher rate compared to stock tune. I was on Stage 1 tune for ~25.5k miles. During that time it was great to have both in town / on the highway. Improved my MPG +~3MPG overall on the average. On one tank of fuel it was able to get me 750Miles / 50 MPG. More commonly on my previous commute, I was seeing between 42/44 MPG on the daily 40 miles.

Moving on to more current times, just as with any motor - diesels take a hit during the winter times if you live in the northern states (or Texas this year). Over the winter months on Stage 1 tune I was seeing ~ 36-41 MPG. Now that it is back to warmer weather MPG has gone back to a more normal state. Also, I have migrated across to the Stage 2 tune and currently been exploring how the car feels with the new tune. Going around town/highway I am seeing similar MPG (as long as I keep my foot out of it). On longer road trips, I am seeing ~ 42-44MPG. I've only been on stage 2 tune for ~1500 miles, but they have been more enjoyable miles as I've really gotten my foot into things more with the additional power available.

Towards the actual acceleration - both tunes are fantastic. Stage 1 was something I got very accustomed to and new how to really get into the power in the right sweet spot of the shifts. Was great in traffic along with on the highway sipping fuel. If you were cruising along at 75MPH in 8th gear and just started putting in some throttle it would be up to 100MPH with ease and comfort.

With the stage 2 tune, it continues to take what the stage 1 tune was brilliant at and keeps it going further. More power. More torque. Better feel of pushing into the back of your seat. Coming around a side street onto a main 2/3 lane road and giving it the beans really allows you to feel the cars turn in / grip on the road / AWD system putting in some work. On the highway, as above, if you are going 75MPH in 8th gear and put in some foot - 100MPH gets to you quicker than you'd expect and it will keep taking you upwards in speed if you have a long enough road.

Also with the stage 2 tune you have a transmission tune now. There are two different available tunes. 1st tune is one which will improve your MPG more and upshift into a higher gear quicker. For roads around my area, this wasn't a good fit due to highway driving around at ~45 MPH which is when the tune will shift the transmission into 8th gear. It did some levels of self learning over time, but it wasn't enough for me to get more comfortable with how I was driving. The 2nd tune is much closer to the OG normal tune you are used to on the 328d. It sacrifices a few MPG, but worth it to feel more within the powerband / right gear when moving about town.

Overall - both tunes are worthwhile and you'll enjoy what the car gets transformed into.

How's the car's reliability been after tuning? And what's your DEF consumption like?

I'm considering the tune but I'm worried about turning the car into an unreliable money pit (like my N54).

AndrewC1989 - Good questions. Reliability has been the same as stock as far as I can tell. Not enough long term mileage to discern if the tune has any impact on various systems.

For DEF consumption, I know the consumption is higher than stock, but haven't calculated the numbers. For me, I just pick up DEF from the VW dealership and fill up every oil change ~7,000 miles.

Thanks for the info! Happy to say my 2015 328dx w/66k is now running Kerma stage 1. Very satisfied with it thus far

Their stage 2 tune is paired with a transmission tune for optimal performance. Don't think it needs any tweaking.

I asked the same question. I don't think you will find better results than Kerma stage 2. I just tuned mine and it's a completely different car. Go for it. You won't regret it. I'm happy to answer any questions but for anything technical you may want to talk to Enabled.

There's no emissions deletes with the KermaTDI tune.

Hi all, first post.
I just got my 2016 328d tuned with DUDMD Stage 1. I have 65k miles on it now. Car feels so much better than before.
This was my attempt to enjoy the car for the next year or two and then maybe move to a 535d…. So far so good. Even my wife said it was worth the money, and she doesn't use Sport mode!
I did get a drivetrain malfunction twice under full load the first day of driving. They cleared after restart. Code was 247500 - low rail pressure. I'm scheduled for a new HPFP under recall as soon as the pump arrives. Apparently they've been rationed one per week per dealer.

Dimitri/DUDMD said xHP transmission tune not necessary with his tune. Anyone have experience with DUDMD with and without transmission tune?

Has anyone on here used Kassel for tuning? They recently did a newer 7 series diesel and had some decent results on the dyno. They are local to me which I like if there are issues with the tune or ecu. https://www.kasselperformance.com/

I see @dreaming.haze said there are 2 different transmission tunes with Kerma stage 2. I don't see that on their website, is this still an option or do they only offer one now? thanks

Kerma Stage 1 tune. Nice performance upgrade with no loss of MPG. ECO mode is now about what comfort mode used to be. DEF usage is higher. Used to go 10k between DEF refills. Now only goes about 6 to 7k.
