HO-Wort HiFi must be added to FA and then VO Code AMP and Head Unit.

Hey Shawn, I'm not sure if you'd have the answer to this or not, but, do you know if it's possible to code the more advance Logic7/Harman equalizer onto the Head Unit...? The other day, I stumbled across the "Audio_System_Var" parameter whilst coding my vehicle, and changing the Var version from "Var 2", to "Var 1", improved the bass frequencies of my audio vastly. I was surprised this happened for 2 reasons.
The first reason I was surprised was because I have the Base Audio setup (although I have just installed a pair of underseat subwoofers), so I wasn't expecting any difference in sound quality at all. The second reason I was surprised the Var parameter improved my sound quality is because, I thought the 2 band eq in the Idrive setting was the only way to eq the sound, but, it would seem that the Var version also contributes to the overall sound. This led me to the theory that it might be possible to unlock/code the more advance 7 band eq, also known as the Logic7/Harman eq.

Not sure how many people know this, but, if you want to enable the 7 Band EQ which normally comes with the Logic7 Harman audio setup, you can code it in. To code it, go into;

HU_NBT/HU_CIC, Then search for "Amplifier_Variant", and then change the value. There will be three values to choose from (in my case anyway). Option 1 "Internal", Option 2 "External" and Option 3 "Most". Select "Most", and code FDL, and that's it.


I couldn't use the 7 Band Logic/Harman EQ, as I only have the base audio setup unfortunately. But, I'm really curious to what happens if you use it with and external Amplifier. If any of you guys have success using the EQ with your aftermarket Amplifiers, then please report your findings/results.

I wish BMW had included this 7 Band EQ as standard, a crappy 2 Band EQ is just not enough!

...One last thing, after experimenting further, I even managed to enable the "Bang & Olufsen" settings menu, although I couldn't use it at all, due to me only having the Base Audio setup.

I doubt it's all that simple. You may be able to code to active the controller associated with the EQ DSP, but if your unit doesn't have the EQ DSP circuitry there's nothing there to control.

Yeah, that's true, I can testify to that as I tried the EQ on my Base Audio setup. But, since looking for a way to activate/enable the 7 Band EQ, I've come across a few threads online, where people have the Harman Kardon/Logic7 setup, but, bizarrely, no 7 Band EQ. I think that's such a disgrace, especially if you paid for the HK/L7 audio as an option.

today during the encoding of hi fi on hu entrynav lost access to the menus on screen 8.8.

As the previous screen was 6.5 I think I lost the coding 3001 exbox> DISPLAY VARIANT> breites display of the current screen of 8.8.

finally solved problem, with the help of a user from another forum. thanks a million @ aspamed82.
this problem comes from trying to encode when we have installed a Chinese carplay module. Do not forget to remove the module before encoding.

I did whatever said in this thread but I am unable to get sound from my newly retrofited nbt id6 unit. My car has production year 2013/03 and it had entry HU. For triggering alpine hifi I also cut pin 13 and add it to pin 15. But still no sound.

Any help appreciated..

Does anybody knows if this option gives better EQ curve (more flat with better vocals)? Can this option used with HK 688 option or I can code HK 688 amp to B&O 6F2 or B&W 6F1 to get B&W audio profiles?
