iPhone X not coming up under USB
2014 BMW 328i M-Sport - ConnectedDrive
I have tried multiple USB cables to connect my iPhone but it never plays music or shows it’s connected. USB port does charge my iPhone so the port does work but in order for me to play music I have to use Bluetooth. Anyone know what the issue could be? Media: MN-003.001.002 Telephone: TN-003.001.002 |

Did you just get this car or did you just get the iPhone X? Was it working previously?
BMW Released a new software update at the beginning of October (I think?) for Telephone (TB) and Media (MB) on iDrive. I suggest to try and update it to see if it fixes anything. go to https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html and enter your VIN to download. |

Somebody posted here saying that updating iOS improved things for them, might be worth a try if you’re not on the latest.

Anker Powerline cables are better than Apple OEM cables. All MFi lightning cables use connectors and logic chips from Apple. I've experienced the issue with OEM Apple lightning cables as well. I've found using shorter cables is more important than anything else. But you do want to stay away from very cheap lightning cables for more than just this issue.

I read that this problem with connecting/disconnecting was due to the amount of power the phone was trying to draw from the USB port? As a test try plugging in the phone with say around 80% charge to see if it does the same thing.

Finally got it to work last week. I had to use short USB cable the 0.5m cables and now my phone works perfectly with USB. I think the problem with regular cables are due to maybe latency issues.
