Swapping steering wheel between pre and post LCI cars?

Hi, I have a f31 335d and have a chance to swap the steering wheel to a heated from 2017 435d.

Obviously one is pre and one is post LCI - I have done some preliminary research and all looks good so before I go ahead I just wanted to check with the forum hive mind.

I don't have lane departure on my car so I know I will need the loom and some coding to make the heating part work but it looks a little bit neater than mine so it is an upgrade in that sense for now anyway.

Should just be a straight swap - any comments to the contrary?

Cheers,

Glenn

You will need the following :-
Steering wheel lower cowl
Heated wheel switch
Indicator switch/wiper switch, this is where the heated wheel switch plugs in
If it doesn't come with the wheel you will also need the control box
And as you say it will need coding
The really expensive bits are the indicator/wiper switch and the control box
You may also need to run wires to the indicator/wiper switch if they are not already there

Thanks very much, found a few threads before posting but that one is very useful.

I think I'll swap the wheels and cowling for now as it's available and look at it again when time is not against me.

If you can get any of the other parts I've mentioned from the 435d now I would.
Buying them later can get into serious money as you will most likely need to buy them new unless you are very lucky and find them second hand.

That's the plan - just need to make sure anything I take doesn't throw up any error codes with the replacements.

Plan is currently, cowl, switch whatever is on the back of the switch and obviously the wheel.

If the stalk can be swapped without error codes then I'll do that too.

Thanks, Glenn
