The 2018 M Perf Edition in Canada has the digital dash. HP is 355, TQ is 369.

I don't think the G20 M340i (even if it was available now) will have "significantly" more HP. The M Perf Edition in Canada is a pretty complete package.
I see the OP is Canadian but 355 to 380 is a jump. Its a bigger move in the US.

There is no M340 in the US. Those are the same 355/369 numbers for the MPPSK here. The standard 340 is 320HP 332ftlbs

Magazines are listing the new US G M340 @ 380-hp as the only I6 engine. Does not look like there will be a smaller 340 version
.
The new US Z4 was just reveled in the Pebble Beach CA car show a few weeks back. The 2019 Z4 M40i version is 382 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Other choice was a 2.0 liter four-cylinder 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

I went with the 2018 because of the manual. If I'm going automatic then I'd wait for the G20. The new 340 will be delayed though.

Attached is my 340.

You should wait for the G20 since your wife has had an F30 before.

To those with the 20 inch rims, did you get any problems with bad road conditions? I'm good at avoiding potholes, but sidewall bubbles can sometimes appear out of nowhere (got plenty of those in the C450 because the suspension was too stiff). I know the suspension on the F30 is softer.

Maybe that's in the US... can anyone in Canada confirm 10% is reasonable?

I shopped around and haggled, 9% is the lowest I got until now, with one dealership left.

Discounts are different depending on the market, season, specific car, time of month, and who knows what else.

Sometimes you get that unicorn of a deal at 15%-20% off a brand new car for whatever reason. I guarantee you that whoever gets that kind of deal will brag about it given the chance. Someone who only gets 5% is unlikely to say anything.

I don't think you should ever have to worry if 10% is a bad deal or not. Even if the car is due to be replaced, that's not bad. You might be able to get more, but if it's a car you really want, are you really gonna be thinking about an extra 3-4% you paid a few years from now? I doubt it.

Discounts to MSRP are larger in the US than in Canada generally. I think 9% would be good, and you said you have one dealership at that level.

In the US, 9% isn't good enough for a common model that's due to be replaced.

buying a 2018 now is a dumb move. just wait 2 weeks when the new 335 is revealed at the paris motor show. I'm sure the new car will have plenty of tech from the 5 series. the f30 steering is already numb so they have no where to go but up there.

You will need to wait about a year for the M-sport most likely. could lease something in between then and now.

Me personally... i'd skip both and get a used f80.

I would wait for the G20 or get the S5 Sportback. Honestly the f30 i test drove last year was a dissapointment compared to my e90 and e46 and it seems that the g20 will be a return to form. The problem is, the inline 6 model, the M340i will have a delayed intro, most likely being a 2020 models. If you can wait get the G20, if you need something sooner, the audi S4/5 is an awesome choice!

There’s a common misconception people have about BMW’s having crazy markup. There’s about a 5% markup before incentives on the current 3 series so getting 15-20% off on a new car I’d say is a tad unrealsitic. Even 9-10% I’d say is a fantastic deal if you can find it. The 3 series isn’t really a high margin/gross car.

Now obviously this doesn’t take into consideration outgoing models, leftover end of the year prior models they are trying to move, executive demo’s, or maybe you catch the dealership on the last day of the month and they need to sell a certain number of new cars to hit their bonus.

Not expecting 10% off minimum on a new model in the first launch year.

TLDR; want the best deal? Negotiate on the outgoing f30. What will the G20 deals be? That’s to early to determine.

Got my 2018 440 at about 12% off with incentives. Car was ordered in April 2017 & delivered in June 2017. Was the first year of the 4 series LCI. April 2017 was also the last month of the MSD so I also got a reduced money factor.

Agree. I somehow got 10% off my 340. I was shocked, but also had two dealers fighting over my business.
