BMW ENET cable alternative?

I thought I bought a BMW ENET cable a couple of years ago, but cannot find it. Only have the ODB - DB9 cable. Would that work with a laptop? Or the software is expecting an RJ-45 connection?

What about using a DB-9 to RJ-45 adapter?

Thanks for your input.

It needs to be Ethernet. Amazon has a billion listings, just buy the proper cable, they are dirt cheap.

I personally wouldn't be risking screwing up the car over a cobbled together solution, just saying...

Agree. Thanks. RJ-45 cable is already on the way.
