Steering wheel upgrade, Airbag questions

I'm going to upgrade my standard sport wheel (triangle airbag type) to the M sport wheel (round airbag type), first question is about the removal of current wheel/airbag and refit of the new one, How? Guide?

Also I've read about potential airbag light problems requiring a dealer to reprogram & remove the errors?

Any help would be great.

Check this thread for airbag removal instructions. Also look on youtube. There are bunch. Basically insert something long and slender into the little hole then wiggle around until you hit the right spot.

You won't get an error light unless you reconnect the battery without the airbag plugged in.

If you do happen to get though they are very easy to remove using Tool32.

Tool32? I've done some basic coding via my laptop, is this a different system?

Just had a look at mine, there are no holes at the moment but there are some markers where I suspect it wants me to make my own holes? that sound right?

I believe you are referring to little slits right? You can push right through.

Ok so new wheel has arrived, and after a little fiddling I've released the airbag on mine but there seems to be a connection missing, or an extra one on my old wheel, pictured?

The blue/black wire

Looks to me like just a different way the horn wires in? Can anybody confirm?

GREAT upgrade. I will be doing a steering wheel upgrade soon too. What did figure out about that extra connector?

When I looked, it seemed to me it was just a different way of wiring the horn, the old wheel it's attached to the airbag unit, where as the new wheel the horn is wired differently, in short though it was literally just plug and play.

Battery disconnected, of course
