Went to the Fanborough Air Show Today

Some automotive exhibitors had to get in on the act... and some tasty morsels on display

Nice to say the all round best model of the BMW range, the F31 330d MSport took price of place, just next to the M3

My son has the hot seat, that's my daughter next to the Spitfire

The M3 looks stunning in that colour. I could be persuaded to forsake EBII for one of those. Lol

I like the one with the supercharged V12 Rolls Royce engine. Here's one from Duxford flying over my house a couple of weeks ago.

Ahhhhhhhh - the spitfire, the only plane that can make me feel 9 years old again when I see or hear one!!!! That engine sound is purely magical - could the active sound come with the option of a me109 or spitfire!!!!!! Lol

My grandad bless him would spin in his grave if he knew I loved a german car so much

That's my dealer and the very M3 I've booked my time in when I get back from holiday. They have the M4 in the same colour and it's turned my head to Sakhir for sure.

I'd have come and said hello but was out of town avoiding the noise today!

Yes, surprisingly so! Well, not really surprising because I knew to expect it to be about the same size as an Elise but its smallness does rather stand out in the metal.

You lovers of that V12 22 litre Rolls Royce Merlin engine (with an output of around 2000 bhp) may enjoy the video of it flying past today. Gimme a couple of days or so and it will be up on Youtube.

I once heard some cranky genius managed to fit one to a car - or rather, bolted it on. It was a Rolls Royce if I remember correctly and was driven along the Brighton seafront. Apparently it didn't end too well, the chassis being unable to cope with the torque...

I, and my son have sat in the seat you will be sitting in after your holiday...

Indeed, an utter beauty. No other way to describe it. You know, I will not be getting an M3, but that doesn't stop me speccing one in my head. Think I'd go for Sakhir Orange but possibly a lighter shade inside.

I think you may be referring to John Dodd of Merlin car fame.

http://www.evo.co.uk/features/featur...the_beast.html

Totally mental car.

Spitfire wise, while the Merlin sounds excellent.

I prefer the low down growl of the Griffon.

The Griffon 61 as fitted to the MK24 Spit was a masterpiece of engine power.

Having been based at Coningsby and Cranwell, spent many weekends watching a listening to high power Low level passes for spitfire and Lancaster.

Standing in the garden being unable to get a full photo of a spit or Lancaster due to just how low they are is amazing.

Great car shots. I love the two weeks of the Farnborough Air Show but as I live nearby don't always get to go and I see what I want to see from my garden, missed the Vulcan this year though! same designer as the Lancaster and only 11 years apart production wise, wow we could make things. Anyway a picture from Sunday afternoon.

Reds looking great as normal.

With Chadwick, the Lincoln was very much his redesign of the Lancaster.

Which actually puts the production / design dates closer, considering most Lincoln aircraft were replaced by Canberra or Washington's.

The designs of the 50's and 60's and the philosophy of the Area Wing Rule resulted in some classic aircraft.

Was in a local pub soaking up the sun, Peronis and the planes on Sunday! Love the M3 in Sakhir, that looks really good. The wheels look so much better in real life than on the configurator too.

Hi fellas, put my video of the airshow up, which you can find here:

Sorry some family bits (a one-size fits all video).

A bit long... 40 minutes. For those interested in particular exhibits, we have:

- Lancaster: 11 minutes
- Vulcan 11.30
- Red Arrows: 22 minutes
- Eurofighter Typhoon 29.45
- Spitfire 34.10

And for the nostalgically minded among you... I included a little flourish at the end
