Still getting to grips with it all, its sensory/info overload still. The DCT is super quick on S3/D3 its holds the gears to quite a high rev actually I think I'm not supposed to use that yet, hmm best get the manual out tonight I think. I believe it was holding to about 5500RPM. Noticed some other changes too. ZF8 if in D I think if you 'paddle' a gear up or down then after a while the ZF8 changes back to the best gear for you, is that right? Even if in D1/D2/D3 (not S1/S2/S3 which are manual modes with quickening variations of change and holding higher and higher revs) if you 'paddle' a gear it just stays in that gear regardless which was un nerving at first. Getting used to it, but just different. Shifter feels good in the hand Left foot feels a bit lost today. Had to do a twatty downshift when coming back into my cul de-sac tonight too before coming to a stop 2nd > 1st. Hehehe it sounded lovely.

Hey thanks The_Lurker
One final bit I forgot to mention was if you go BMW to BMW don't forget to insist on having your profile carried over. Sounds obvious now but I'd always started again from scratch, I was up and running on Classic FM to all my usual Nav's in no time.

Chester, will be interested to see how different the fuel consumption is between the M235i and the M4... Hopefully not too different on a steady 90mph cruise?
What had you been getting from the M235i?

That is one stunning car! Love the fact you lost the CF roof so you can put bikes on top. I do have the roof bars for mine but I'd struggle with that decision.

I did have to think it over for ages. I'm happy actually. When I go camping with my roof box I will feel smug in the best looking load carrier....until the SMAX next to us has to tow me out of said field.

Yes first time HUD for me. That pic is just the M, shows Speed Limit display and funky display of a Tacho.
I can't believe how much info is in the non M HUD. Sat Nav, Entertainment details (when you change via the steering wheel rotary controller), speed of course, and also Check Control warnings in there too. The Nav bits are quite detailed little junction diagrams with road names for your exit. Class!

OOO another minor difference with the M mirrors. You don't get the dazzle by seeing the indicators on the actual wing mirrors. I'm not even sure if they have indicators in them but my M235i was quite bright at night and a minor distraction.

This does bug me. The F21 did it & so does my F31. Thinking black tape in the short term to blank the end off & something more permenent if it works. Ffs BMW. We know we are indicating. We've just moved the fucking stalk! |

Yeah, if you use the paddles it switches to SX from DX and stays there and will stay in whatever gear you put it in pretty much from idle to red line. And the D/S on the gear stick is a toggle, doesn't hold in place like the 8AT.
Had some comedy moment overtakes when I first got mine and pressed an 'M' button the Genius had set up as SX on the DCT and put my foot down to find it didn't drop any gears. |

Congratulations dude. It takes a real love of cars to justify a new M3/4 given the discounts available on 335s. Well done - enjoy it and more pics/insights please.

Thanks all for the kind words.
I happened to be passing the car today with a camera so took the liberty of a lot more interior shots. (but......the file size is too big, uploads let grrrrr).
