Is that because the snooty Aldi salesmen take 3 months to fill out the order form before sending it to the factory?

It seems a bit weird how there seem to be quite different delivery schedules for the cars. Maybe it's dealer allocations or just differences in the specs.

Quite possibly. When I ordered it was 8 weeks and then in general (feedback from forums) there seemed to have been a delay of 2-4 weeks for many people. But then they seem to be clawin back a week or two here and there. I suspect that when the delays happened many cancelled their orders liberating slots and allowing some contraction in the timescales.

Not complaining. Can't wait til I get the call. Better get cracking with insurance quotes (car, gap, tyre) ...

waiting is killing me!

I ordered my f31 330d msport xdrive back in Feb, it's now built and due to come into dealers in 2 weeks, driving a focus hire car at the moment...
I'm going to phone the dealer today to make sure it's still on track, wish there was a way of tracking progress with the VIN in the UK like there is in the US!

So, car should be at dealer on Friday and with me early next week. That would be just over five weeks from order which I'm very impressed with!

Well I'm now officially a member of the club.
Ordered 20 April
Changed options 29 April
Picked up 28 May

Not had time for a run yet but two initial observations:
1/ Reverse is an effort to get into - couldn't find it at first!
2/ In reverse the left-hand mirror tilts down, which I thought was a special option so nice surprise!

I'll get some pics up and maybe a video of the HUD

Welcome to the club.
The reverse did take a wee bit getting used to for me, not any longer.
You must have the folding electric mirrors for the dipping on the nearside.
What i have noticed though, the offside mirror doesn't appear to dim much when driving at night, not like the rear view one.

I found a few suprises after a few days of playing about that i didn't expect.
Not picking the HUD was probably one of my regrets.

Yeah, that was the option I was thinking of but I don't have it. At least I didn't order it and there's no button for it on the door controls.

Other stuff that's different from expected: I see no sign of a USB port in the glove box. There is a blanking plate but the manual seems to imply that the socket is there when the pro nav isn't installed.
I'm dubious about the power socket underneath the glove box - though there is a hole there.
I'll get a better chance to look at these in the daylight.

Oh I drove it a bit more. Lovely

Found the other 12V socket. It's very well hidden under the glove box.
There is no USB in the glove box.
In other news the Remote and Connected apps work very well, iPod 4G and iPhone 5 are easily controllable and show album art, the voice commands seem to be many and varied and struggle with Scottish accents as usual.

My F30 320d xdrive took a tad over 5 weeks from order.
Some other folks have had a much longer wait.

How are you finding the xDrive? I've only driven the RWD version...

Well last night I decided to see.
In sport mode, attack tight roundabout and there is no doubt the main power is coming from the rear. No sign of understeer but plenty of oversteer if pushing too hard. I've driven FWD all my life and it doesn't feel anything like that.

thanks, loved my E90 320D RWD but just a little rear end happy sometimes, glad to hear it hasn't all gone in the xDrive, nothing worse than understeer, oversteer is fun in the right situation...

I'll be interested in your comments once you get the car as an experienced RWD driver. The (limited) reviews I read all said it felt the same as the standard version which made me feel like it would only be at the limits that any difference would be noticeable.

F30 chassis is seriously light years ahead of E90, most engines don't have enough power to upset the rear end, it is that good.

Yes TCS does flicker when pressing on in the wet, but non of that 'all power cut' type antics that we remember of previous generations.
And, yes, this rear sure footedness is partially because TSC is better, but mainly because the F30 and F30 E-LSD is brilliant.

I have not had the rear end step out with TSC on....ever. And that includes seriously provoking it on a wet road. 4 wheel drift is all that it will do on the limit.

DSC OFF....now that is where the fun begins
