No not bothering with the X, I got the watch instead as it?ll add a lot more to my life than the X would.

Used my AW for the first time today when out for a run. Mixed bag really, love the fact that I don't have to strap straps and phones on, GPS is quite cool and you can see where you've run when it's connected to your phone at home. What wasn't so good was the heart rate monitor, the bloody thing was all over the place. If it wasn't registering it was wildly inaccurate so I found myself constantly checking it to see if it was working or not! Not great really.

Hmmm that?s strange, all the reviews seem to say the HR monitor is really good. Was it possibly a positioning issue, or maybe the strap wasn?t tight enough? Or do you sweat profusely?

I?ve just found out that you can connect a chest strap HR monitor to the AW! Quite a few available:

I don't think I sweat anymore than the next man and the thing was snug, more snug than I usually have my watches when out running. I'll try again tomorrow and see how I get on.

Hopefully it was just a hiccup. At least there?s the option of a chest/arm strap if not.

Aye, I'll see how it goes over the next week or so. Mind you, I did quite like the alerts every time a km is completed.

I got a the new Garmin Vivoactive 3 the other day. I really like it for running, cycling, hiking, general fitness and even golf. The iOS Garmin app is also very good. It is also not the walled garden.

However the AW integration with iPhone looks excellent.

The one that's integral to the watch, haven't tried the Nike ones just yet. It's the app with a little green stick man running. I didn't set anything up with the app, I just found I was getting blips every completed km.

Simpeak Stainless Steel Band Strap for Apple Watch 42mm Series 1 Series 2 Series 3, Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B016QAHS..._2NN2zbKJCZJBR

It even comes with a strap link tool & extra links btw!

Beware of the £9.99 price as it’s slow delivery from China, I bought from the prime seller at £14.98

So today I used my AW twice to pay for things, one of the times I was carrying our daughter so it was hugely easier to press the watch button a couple of times and hold it to the pay machine than trying to get the card out of of my wallet in my pocket!

Another thing that’s great is the torch function which just makes the screen white (and brighter when the watch is turned away from you). It’s actually better for walking into a dark bedroom with someone asleep in it as doing it with an iphone torch is like walking in with a floodlight!

I’m really loving the AW, and I haven’t even done a run or workout with it yet!

I am tempted to get one this week to try out. Most reviews are good although I don?t want the LTE version.

How?s battery life?

Battery life is far better than I expected! Been playing around with it most of the day from 9am until a few minutes ago and it was still on 70%

I’m not sure if I’m bothered about the LTE functions yet, but what little extra it costs over the non LTE version you’ll probably get most of it back if you sell it in a year or two due to higher used prices. Plus the data plan is free for the first 6 months and then you’ll know for definite if you use it or not, so you can decide whether to carry on at £5pm.

I?m with Three so LTE won?t work. Not sure I understand the reasoning for going with a single provider. Seems stupid but I?m sure they have their reasons.

Battery life sounds great much better than when I used a series 1.

Apparently EE are the only operator with the technical setup to support the eSIM with ported number.

Three admitted as much in an article I read recently, so the “exclusivity” will be for as long as it takes for the other providers to upgrade.

Here’s a link to the article

I?m sure they will put in place the necessary to support it.

During my watch set up Ed asked me to either sign into my EE account or create a new one so I think no matter what network your phone is on you might still be able to connect the watch to the EE data plan.

If not it?s still worth getting the LTE version as three will offer a data plan for it at some point

Pretty sure you can't, cos it shares a phone number doesn't it?
