Will be interesting to see how it pans out, but it won't be as simple as just lowering the chassis with a different spring. Dampers will require some changes to keep the same damping characteristics.

I'm thinking it could be the adaptive damper option which most readily suit a lowered car.

Good info. Very strange that they didn't even increase peak power by 1bhp though!

This probably explains why I've always achieved identical MPG in my 335d as I did in my 330d sDrive then!

For the 320d, maybe bmw are doing the usual of their engines putting out more power than stated in the brochure.

After all they do now do 0-60 in around 6.8 secs. Are they really still producing the same power as before?

I guess the torque is higher than the old one, and with an artificially limited peak power like the old 320d ED.

Seems like I'm the only one that will be buying a m340i. My first 6-pot bmw so looking forward to the mythical smoothness.
Bmw design is an acquired taste so we will all probably love it in 12/24 months.

I’m certainly a possible buyer too. I quite like the G20 design and it sounds like they have made the improvements I want over the F3x.

That said, I am very undecided at the moment. Contenders include the 530d/540i, X3 30d/40d/40i, 6GT, as well as the M340i.

Didn't like the looks to start with and some angles still look awful but I'll wait 'til I see it in the flesh and drive it. Not holding out much hope that they'll ever do an MPPSK for the M340i though.

It's not so bad in msport guise with the active spoiler not good but not as horrible as the SE

Which of the video reviews is actually worth watching?

Yep I agree the nanny states we live in means no more MPE or MPPSK but the M340i sounded really good in the track video so maybe the have just made the MPPSK standard.

Just watched it. Mat Watson should be on top gear... best presenter around just now!

New 3 looks to be a great all rounder. Fingers crossed they do a hybrid tourer, as that would be ideal for me.

I agree, he's by far the best of them, with a nice mixture of videos as well. The drag races are always good fun.

I hate Shhhmug150 with a deep passion. The intro to his videos ("Hi guy's I'm...") causes me physical pain.

I still watch him on occasion, usually when he's in that lovely Merc GTR AMG, which he ruined by getting it wrapped. He doesn't review cars though, he just talks about specs. Good idea really, means he never pisses any manufacturers off.

Anyway, joining in the love for Mat from Carwow, easily my favourite reviewer.
