It does need the Kafas camera which your car will only have if if it has speed limit display or forward collision mitigation.

It would be helpful to me if anyone has any images of the wires for heating so I know what I am looking for as I may also have a look to see what may be hiding!

Also how would I turn it on and off as have HSW and radar cruise etc.
Thanks

This is interesting... my car has the heated wheel but no LDWS or vibration module. I need to do some research to see how easy retrofit would be. Although that said, it's annoyed me a bit on the X5

EDIT:

Reading RealOEM I would need to buy the vibration unit but the wiring is supposedly all the same. How can this be when I didn't notice any spare connectors on the loom I have? How does the vibration unit connect??

You're looking for the wiring down at the bottom right, the item on the left is the vibration generator.

Edit: photo has uploaded on its side but you get the idea

The vibration unit/motor connector is the little white one and that then runs to the black module with the label on it. That module is then connected to the steering wheel slip ring.

I have the heated steering wheel and speed limit display, so would love to know if this can be done in Bimmercode.

Sure Bimmercode can't do VO coding... both of these are VO aren't they?

I don’t think you have a Kafas camera for active cruise, it uses the radar in the bumper.

Also interested to know if TSR and anything else (?) can be coded to a car with LDW. I'd get it coded at the same time as the HSW coding was done.
Need to check the wheel for the HSW components first though.

Cheers

No, SLI requires an FSC enabling code which is a lot of money, or you can buy an emulator which is around $200

So getting inspired by this thread I opened up my steering wheel today to see if I had the right things in place to retrofit the heating function.

Not too sure what to look for? I am clearly missing the vibrator unit (as described in the pics on the post above) but not interested in LDW.

Looks like you are missing the heating element wiring , if you look at the pic in post 27 you can see the LDW motor on the lower part on of the pic and heating element brown + black wiring on the upper.

So it looks like you dont have the required parts (element) to make it work , on the plus side gloves are only £1.99 a pair in Morrisons garage at the moment so it is not all bad news.

Haha...very funny It was never about the actual heated wheel, it was more about being able to say I've retrofitted something on my car. It would've been a simple one...guess I'll have to find something else.

Anyway...thanks for clarifying!

Steering

Hey guys i am new to this forum but i have owned a 2009 335 xdrive and i love it. but ive always wanted an M3 so i got one. I like mostly everything about it except the steering i love the heavy steering in my 335 and how it goes where i want it to go but the 2011 updated LCI M3 is lacking it almost seems like there is a gap in the steering when taking a hard left or right anyone feel the same or is it just a difference bc i have been driving a hydraulic steering rack vs. electric?
