Cruise control malfunction repeitive error code

Hello mates, I am asking regarding to a 'cruise control malfunction' code that constantly comes on and off randomly. When the code comes on the only noticeable thing that occurs is that the steering wheel buttons dont work after the error is on, but... Once it goes away randomly ether in couple seconds or a min time span, the steering wheel buttons operate and everything is normal again..
Looked all over and couldnt get info smh... , looking for help please haha. Thank you for reading and have an great day!

It's your switch steering column. I had the same issue but it's not random it can be reproduced under certain angle of your steering wheel. Dealer fixed the issue by replacing this http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=61_2982
The dealer told me it had shorted out. I think it's just a faulty part.

Same issue here... Do you have a part number? The link goes to the Main Page for F30 - not a particular part.

Good to know I'm not alone. Same issue here. Taking it to the dealer.

The annoying thing is that the message disappears before I can read any codes, still trying to catch the code but it's still very random.

I just started seeing this after swapping steering wheels. It pops up, goes away, and everything works as normal.

I'll put the other wheel back on to see if it is related to something in the wheel.

EDIT: Found this thread https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1383004

GOing to swap the innards of my old wheel, and see if that fixes it. Just trying to install paddles

Something with the controls on the new steering wheel was causing this, swapped my old controls in and the error is gone.

I'm having the same issue on my 2014 328i. Whenever I turn the wheel, the code goes away and the buttons on the wheel work again. The malfunction happens randomly and usually at slower speeds.

I had cruise control intermittent failures and button lights go off. Replaced the wiring harness and everything is fine. This seems to have been a problem since the e-series.

Wire harness within the steering wheel which connects the various components such as the left right sets of buttons aside of the horn.

@mcclark did you swap your old control unit in or just the old harness?
