ZF 8HP problems

Bought a 335D -16 xdrive with 8 speed a month ago. Ive had "drivetrain malfunction" a couple of times since then. Did a XHP stage 2 on it, but I've removed it now because the problems started after flash.

Restart car and all works fine 1-1,5weeks.
It comes up mostly from low speed or when standing still giving about 40-50% gas.
I've got 1 fault code on the box, oil level is ok and I've checked it according to ZF spec with computer activation and 30-40*c max, I managed to fill about 0.2L. Color of the oil reminded of beige / brown, but not that dark.

I've got ZF lifeguard 8 and a new pan, but unsure if this is something else than just an oilchange.

It's a bit sluggish between gear 1-2-3 when cold, XHP fixed that when I had it flashed, but too afraid to use XHP anymore.

Car has done about 80k km.

Where should I start?

does it feels like when you change gear on a manual tranny? Mine gives me this kind of feeling when cold.

Just confirming...the error codes haven't come back since you went back to stock?

I would definitely change the fluid, though. Few threads around now on how beneficial it is. ZF apparently recommends it be changed right around your mileage, 50k miles/80k km.

First few gears shifting weird when cold is completely normal, just the way they operate apparently. Takes some getting used to. Shifts lag a bit and then do this weird 'lurching' shift once they do. Goes away once warm.

ZF's most recent guidance is 150,000km, see attached. But of your car use may warrant shorter OCI.

And yes, the 1-2 "lurch" is normal, lots of threads on that.

It did it twice with XHP, now driving 1.5 weeks without XHP just stock it did it just random driving in city, now it's been 1 week without code.

So, service on box has been done. Been driving stock until last week.
Car has now gotten stage 1 + EGR off, moves like a f***ing train, the nm is just kickass.

BUT, box still acts weird. I feel like it's slower on shifting 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 but WOT from 3:rd works fine, but sometimes from standstill I get "Drive train malfunction". Also feels like it takes longer I manual shifting 1-4 but at least it's not giving me any warnings or problems from that. Mostly got fault codes on Clutch B.
Also read out adaptions values after oil change and upgrade to XHP stage 2.

My car has full insurance so I might bite the bullet and pay the 500$ and let my insurance take the hit and get a new box.

Will your insurance cover a transmission that has been reprogrammed on a car where the engine has also been reprogrammed to put more torque/power through the transmission (which now looks like it couldn’t cope with)
