Pulled the trigger as well after reading this. Being in Georgia I've been wanting to upgrade with the hot summer days. I figure it would be plenty for my driving style and would still work whenever I go BM3 later this year. Cars out of warranty in 2 months so that's when the fun can begin!

Instead of creating a new thread figured I'd ask this question in this one:

I have the standard front bumper so this new FMIC isn't getting as much direct air as it would with the more open m-sport bumper. I've debated on getting an msport bumper but then there's painting and headlights.

So would air scoops that are typically used to direct air toward intake but instead used to direct air toward fmic be useful/possible?

Thoughts? Thx!

You don't need new headlights to switch to an msport front bumper

Like MONSTAR stated.....your only concern might be PDC and/or headlight washers if you have those options.

I guess my bumper issue is that I have halogens and if I go m-sport bumper that means halogens would have to go next, and I'm done modding for a little while. But if I do see an msport bumper in imperial blue hit the market I will prob snatch it up anyway. Appreciate the info.

So back to the FMIC scoop question.........

Regarding the air scoops, I wouldn't think it's necessary. If you could get some logs of the same FMIC on one car with an M bumper and the other with a sport or base bumper, get identical conditions, and run a true experiment to see if there is a difference in favor of the M bumper, then I think air scoops may be a good option. However, without that info, I'd guess that you'd see minimal if any improvement.

The current model being sold on Amazon is a two-stepped design with similar dimensions on the lower half and additional upper section. I've not seen/heard anyone provide a review of the current model...yet.

Agreed notices that as well when I got mine. I plan on hopefully installing mine tomorrow if it doesn't rain, or else I'll do the following weekend.

Sweet. Curious to get your impression and hear how the install goes. Would be awesome if someone already had JB4/BM3 and did some before/after logs on this unit.

I would, but I am waiting until my CPO warranty expires in Sept. before doing bm3. Just waiting on the FTP inlet pipe to get here and then doing FBO installation in one day. CPs, inlet, FMIC and DV+ all together.

I just tried to get the black stepped GPlus intercooler installed and the outlets are a completely different size then the stock or aftermarket chargepipe. Not sure if the wrong part was sent to me but just a FYI. I have to return.

Wow... this is a first report of an issue. Sucks to hear.

Can you show us pics?

I can remember my fittings being VERY tight... I actually installed them by themselves on each side (with a bit of lube) and also using a piece of wood over the edge of fitting so I could tap with a hammer (and not damage). Then once metal fittings were on, I attached the rest of charge pipe outwards. Might not be possible to do this with stock plastic charepipes, not sure.

You should try that before returning!

They fit tight which is what you want, no boost leaks.

***As mentioned above, mine is the non-stepped version. It is definitely possible you got a defective unit but wanted to share my experience to try and save you the hassle...

I also have the old model and didn't have fitment issues with my stock charge pipe. Putting zip ties on the locking clip made things way easier. A little gorilla strength and the fittings seated nice and tightly.

Pics would be amazing.

I am attempting this job this weekend and you better believe that if there are fitment issues there be flames throughout Amazon.

I will line up the FTP CPs with the intercooler inlet later and share pics.

Good News

Using the FTP CPs, the fitment is perfect to the GPlus FMIC. Very tight tolerance, but was able to just wiggle them on and the clips went on without issue. Whew.

Word, same. Hate bs and only interested in sharing things that are proven and accurate. Thanks for giving me the recommendation a year or so ago. I wouldn't have purchased this without your nod. You're like 50x more neurotic than I am, so if you're happy then I will be too.

Very weird. I went to Bryan Kies for the install who definitely knows what he's doing. Maybe the model intercooler delivered to me was for a different car but the connections from the intercooler to the chargepipe were way too big. Not even close.
