More Power for N47

Hi!
I have F30 320d xDrive Sport Line.

Yesterday went with friends to the site is not yet open road in Moscow. To measure the speed of the machine program Torque Pro, which determines the speed is not on GPS, and by OBD2. I do not know how much it is exactly or not exactly, but the feelings it is.
In the end, that's got such a high score:

Sorry for shit quality.

0-100 km / h = 7.377 sec. One conclusion - the car goes on the passport.
Mode Sport +, gearbox in DS, launch from 1700-2000 rpm, A/C off, lights on)))
Good result but i want more! Need to increase the power of the engine. Option - sell your car and buy a more powerful is not considered as F30 are sold in Russia only in version 320d/320dx.

As the market research revealed three choices:
1) BMW M Performance Power Kit
184 hp -> 200 hp 380 Nm -> 420 Nm
Promise to 5 km / h to the maximum speed and acceleration 0-100 km / h: 0.3 seconds
2) Chip-boxes from different manufacturers (Hartge, AC Schnitzer, Race Chip, Kelleners and others)
184 hp -> 215-218 hp 380 Nm -> 445-450 Nm
The numbers are different, but they promise an increase to the maximum speed and acceleration 0-100 km / h in 0.2 seconds and from -3-4 s at 100-200 km / h

And the third option:
Option 1 + Option 2! PPK + chip box!!!.
Theoretically results should be greater than separately as box will modify existing indicators Performance ECU.

I've mailed to Hartge, AC Schnitzer, Kelleners and Race Chip.

Below are their answers about whether a combination of PPK with Chip-boxes.

Hartge: Yes, this is possible.
AC Schnitzer: Unfortunately is it not possible for us to say if these modifications will work together because we test our performance upgrade only with BMW standard engines without any modifications.
RaceChip: You can use the chip in your car.

The RaceChip receives data from the ECU (control box from the car) and optimizes these. The Injection volume, duration of injection and the boost will be changed by the RaceChip.

Thereby you have more performance and torque.

The values given on our website are the calculated maximum values. Not every vehicle reaches this value because it also depends on the tolerance range of the vehicle.

Our chip is mainly active in the acceleration and pulling phase. The work area is about 1500-3500 rpm. Normally, the top speed is the same before.

We supply the chip with a basic setting for your vehicle. With this basic setting, you have a power increase about 20%. This is the best compromise between fuel economy and performance.

We do not avoid any security systems on your car. So when the power is too much, your car will be shut down to the safety mode. Therefore your car is still protected.

Kelleners
: We would not recommend combining the BMW Performance power increase with a tuning box like ours without upgrading the whole drive train of the car.

The resulting power and torque output is likely to exceed the electronic and/or physical limits of gearbox, clutch and xDrive system in certain situations. The engine is also likely to have serious temperature issues under heavy load which can cause damage to the engine and exhaust system.

I also asked Vadim - from DieselBoost a reputable company in tuning diesel engines in Russia. He said: You can put together.

What do you think about?

Hi, I have experience with power box from Stainbauer on my previous car Q7 3.0TDI.

For BMW 320d they offer:

http://www.steinbauer.cc/bg/products...35kw__3gq/b8Y/

The result was real! From 9 sec 0-100 originaly the Q7 goes to 8 sec 0-100 km/h.
Much better gear changes (6AT was the gearbox).

On 4th year, the power box was broken and after e-mail to the owner we received new one!

What about the warranty of car if you install additional tuning? Did you ask BMW? The AUDI installed the power box in their service 3 months after the purchase of car.

Before i go to dealer to solve my problem (if it appears) i'll take off the box. But I hope nothing happens.)

I've made few run's with the guy on a same car (F30 320d xDrive) with BMW Performance Kit.

You can see that effect occurs at speeds above 100 km / h. So it really works!

That guy made also Racelogic statistics:
0-100 = 7.13s (automatic transmission - D, motion mode - sport)
0-100 = 7.18c (automatic transmission - DS, comfort, DSC - off)
0-180 = 23.69s
0-200 = 31.20s
80-180 = 18.68s
80-200 = 26.11s

In all he has done for about 6 rounds. Above shows the best results.
I note that when Racelogic showed 198 km / h on the speedometer was in the area of 207 km / h .

------------------------

Next time i'll try to get guy with chip-box to check results.

And one thing more. There 2 types of tuning boxes for N47 on F30:
1) Box that connect to Common Rail (JBD, Racechip and other).
2) Box that connect to Injectors (AC Schitzer, Hartge, Kelleners, Steinbauer).

You have to know that AC Schitzer, Hartge, Kelleners and Steinbauer are selling THE SAME tune programm!!! But prices are different.
Just check the manuals:
http://preisliste.ac-schnitzer.de/ac.../121490170.pdf
http://www.steinbauer.cc/media/kb/in..._22_220531.pdf

Wow, that's a huge difference compared to stock! Definitely just go with the MPPK then. It won't void your warranty too.

I can't believe that Russia only offers the 320d.

F30 320d xDrive with BMW Performance Power Kit
vs.
F30 320d xDrive with Wetterauer tuning box.

PPK wins.)
I do not know where the horse galloped promised by Wetterauer site (218 h.p. + 450 Nm) =)))

PPK is still winning! Hope we'll find dudes with chips from Hartge, AC Schnitzer and Kelleners to find out who is the best.

Yes, I'm interested too - PPK vs high-end (non-basic-piggyback) chips...

The figures for the PPK seems under rated... Surely feels faster! Ordered the same for my upcoming 320d.

Anyone tried combining the PPK with any chip/boxes?

Sorry guys for the late reply. The main objective is to increase the performance of PPK. There are 5 way:
1) Combine PPK with cheap chipbox like JBD (that connects only to common rail)
2) Combine PPK with expensive chipbox like AC Schnitzer, Hartge (or cheaper alternative Steinbauer)
3) Combine JBD alike box + expensive chip box.
4) Combine cheap box that connects to boost sensor (like TMC box) + expensive box
5) Combine 3var + PPK.

My friend is going to buy Hartge box and PPK next year (spring).
Now he is making Havana M-package with 335i Perfromance exhaust on his F320d xDrive Havana Luxury.)
I will buy TMC box in january and PPK later.

Thanks mate. BTW, the main question is any of the above option/combo you mentioned actually tested or is being used by anyone you know in the real world?

I've asked tuners about combining their chips and here are their answers:

The resulting power and torque output is likely to exceed the electronic and/or physical limits of gearbox, clutch and xDrive system in certain situations. The engine is also likely to have serious temperature issues under heavy load which can cause damage to the engine and exhaust system.

I read that in your first post but unless we have a practical example it wouldn't be wise to give it a go... I have decided that I'll opt for the power kit and keep it that way until and unless we finally have someone who actually have the guts to try out this experiment and give up some real feedback.

Why not just go straight aftermarket if you're not worried about warranty
