Now to the buttons. Prob will have to buy a complete 5 7 or x5 climate control panel.

I love this. I have the "ceramic" look panels, not the silver or carbon fiber. So the ceramic controls would totally match my current interior panels

Looks pretty good! And I like Diet Dr. Pepper as well. Where did you buy it and how hard was the install.

I’ll let you lead on that one.

Did you just move the ceramic cover onto your F30 shifter or totally take part the F10 Shifter and install that in the F30 base?

Shifter
Part # 61319252141

I found one on eBay dirt cheap. cover pops off, 1 screw holds everything together. 5min install.

iDrive knob
Found one used on eBay, got lucky as it was compatible with evertyhing. Forgot to take a pic of the part #.

-Trim justs pops off, 1 cable to the unit and 3 screws that attach it to the trim. 5 min install

Volume/climate buttons will be much more involved. Not even sure if possible.. http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1400128

I'll give it a try later on this spring...

So you didn’t retrofit F10 shifter? I found the Leather was nicer on the f10 shifter so I did the full retrofit instead of just the ceramic top cover.

I told you and others in other threads everything was compatible, so that’s no surprise ....the complexity comes in if you do the full F10 shifter retrofit.

Glad it all worked out for you.

Interesting, didn't know there was a difference in leather quality.

I just swapped the ceramic portion to avoid any comparability issues.

I remember reading your posts.., but my memory is horrible, I thought the main compatibility issue was with the iDribe knob.

I need to swap out the silver center piece around the base of the shifter to clean it up.

If you plug in the F10 shifter (it won’t fit in the f30 shifter slot so do not attempt to bolt in), you can see it works fine with no compatibility issues.

Will be interesting to see if you can find that piece that matches the OEM finish, weave and direction of your other OEM Parts, especially as they will be side by side in center console.

After further thought, I'm just going to wrap that silver center surround.

You can get any color/shade/finish on the face of the earth.

While I like CF bits, it's a fine line and too much makes the interior look gaudy.

Below is just a random google image that I spent 10 seconds searching for, but I'm confident my shop can match it perfectly.

More to come..

Agree 100%

Especially if mismatch of different finish and weaves.

Good luck with the knobs

I did the ceramic iDrive controller swap some time ago, was also thinking about swapping out the knobs.

Read thru the exact same thread you reference - got with the OP of that thread with some questions. His last reply was:

Quote:
My recommendation would be to NOT do what I did with the radio/heater control panel. IE it does have to be disassembled and the rotary encoders were difficult to migrate. High likelihood of bricking your shit on that one.

Better to buy a complete panel that is correct for your car and just change it over. I had it for free so I have little to lose.
