OP said 2016 60k miles.

OP, start asking the wife what she wants as a replacement.

GL shopping.
Then definitely totaled. All 2016 60k mile 428i on Autotrader are $18 - $20k

While on the phone with the insurance company today, they said they have the value at $26k.

The guy had to elevate it to the supervisor, as his limit was 25k.

The 428i was loaded with almost every option.

Final word is in and they are going to repair the vehicle. It was only 65% of the value. We will go after the other driver's insurance for the depreciated value due to the wreck.

^^Mother of God^^

Talk about having paint in your car at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Yup my 320 got totaled and hit the similar way as yours.

OP, which shop will repair the car? BMW Collision or your trusted body shop?

Not so good if the insurance repairs the car, all three airbags deployed.

So the valuation kept the car from being totalled for now. I predict they may find more damage. Is this an xdrive?

Exactly. But once they start in, there's no going back.

Depends when they find the additional damage and its associated cost...
And whether or not they are using aftermarket parts
And how complete their labor/part list is (any idea this shops experience in this model? )

After they start tearing into it, the Insurance is paying out funds.

That's why I say once they start, they are not going to suddenly reverse themselves and declare it totaled as they have already paid out funds to start.

Based on the 2016 428i on Autotrader and other sites, I still do not see how they came up with the $26k+ valuation with 60k miles on it.

Too bad the dashboard airbag didn't go off....that would have totaled it for sure. From the initial posts, it sounded like it did go off...but later revised.

That depends on what they find that they missed, when they find it, and the dollar amount associated with the new revised repair. Not that uncommon for a shop to abort tear-down and proceed with total loss.
Does OP have a repair estimate to post?

$26 is a strong offer on the value, $18k low estimate on the repair.
OP is in California so within 500 miles of Fremont there are only a couple RWD Msport 428i grancoupes. Twice bumped 2 owner nicely built CPO car and this 2 owner car that looks fine but leaves me wanting more.

Was not happy with the insurance company fixing the car, so I have been pushing State Farm to total the car. They were steadfast in only wanting to repair the car. Was able to get ahold of the other drivers insurance that is liable and at fault of the accident.

They were surprised that the car wasn't totalled due to the airbag deployment. They are inspecting the car tommorow and hope that after our push for diminished value that they will just total the car.

Post their repair estimate and we'll let you know whats missing. (obviously remove your personal info).
The other insurance company is likely going to come in lower on your car's value.
You can choose who totals the car if both insurance companies are going that direction.

Part of what you are fighting is the difference between what you signed up for and are contracted to through your insurance company, vs the other insurance company that owes you the full boat. Im guessing that your insurance company is going to be using used and aftermarket parts, and contracted labor rate cap.

If they total it, you can find it on Craigslist in a few months. $12K, like new, minor damage from just a parking lot fender bender. Drives and looks like new!

I can see it now
