M sport Brake Issue
Hi guys ,
I bought Msport calipers (and Rotors too) from a forum member here and fitted to My 328i (Lux trim) they have been good for year an half , Fast forward To last week i had to put my foot down hard on the brakes and heard this loud grinding sound and brakes felt that they did not bite enough. No issue or warnings came for Pads but i think the Rotors may need replacement as driving downhill had a bit of wobble on brake application. My concern is that am i missing any coding ? , this was not suggested at the time of Install since they are plug and pay scenario. general driving at 60Km/h or even 110Km/h is okay and no issues . Its only hard braking which feels a bit lacking , i am concerned and not doing any spirited driving now . I am going to get it checked but i thought i would get opinions here as well . Also Found this which is closer to my case , I do not have the rear brakes though , they are standard : 335i Retrofit. Grey Brembo calipers, 340mm front rotors. Stock, take-off 335i front brakes will bolt up to the 328i/428i. These were a 4-piston grey Brembo caliper and 340mm rotor. We don't recommend this unless matching rear brakes are installed and the ABS/DSC software is updated to 328i M Sport version. Last edited by chet82; 12-17-2019 at 05:07 PM.. No coding needed for the brake upgrade. There should be sensors at each rotor that need to be replaced once activated. I.e. if your car tells you you have xx amount of KMs left before pads need changing, the sensors need replacing.
I did the brake swap but my car is an MSport 328i |

Have you had a look to see if the brake booster is a different part number for cars fitted with and without the brakes?
I wouldn't be surprised if coding was required for a VO update. The reason being that when I put the "Performance brake" set up on my E90 there was coding required. |

Reading your post literally - that you just changed calipers - my 328 has 330x24 mm discs. The 335 base Brembos are 340x30. There was definitely a coding change to go to the 370mm kit. Turner motorsport spells out the options although you have to map back to oz. |

Yerr should have included that in the post , Edited to include rotors as well. I am still awaiting info from the Mechanic . he will look into it and advise early next year since they are closing down for the break now .

The only time you need to change the VO is if you have installed the BBK. Sorry but out of the loop with which brake is which on the 3 series.
The coding however, apparently, only makes the pedal feel different and I would suggest this is not your issue. By the sounds of it the pads need to be replaced and you'll probably have to skim the rotors as well (if you can). |
