Do they honor the return policy for wear items? Brake pads, windshield wipers, clutch disc, etc?

The more i read, the more 0.022 seems the sweet spot with NKG.

BTW, thanks for link above, yet never heard of the S55 plugs cracking. Hmmm...

Spark plug question with my BM3 PS2, 93 octane flash.

-MY14 335ix 8-speed EWG
-Pure Stage 2 w/ High flow inlet and diverter valve upgrade
-ER Cattless DP
-ER Charge pipes
-ER Turbo to intercooler charge pipe
-Remus axleback
-Dinan intercooler
-Eventuri intake
Engine Type
N55 EWG
Octane
US 93

Issue

-Sport mode, auto shifting, full throttle... When my car hits 3rd or 4th gear it very often just hits redline and bounces for 1-2 seconds. Sometimes it shifts up, but more often than not, it will bounce off redline and not shift up until I decide to just let off the gas so I don't hurt the engine.

Dzenan at PTF recommended I use the recommended NGK plugs gapped at 0.018". I don't believe I'm pushing past 25psi so could this be the potential issue? should a re-gap the plugs to 0.02"?

Appreciate any advise.
Pete

I've been running around the forums for awhile now and can't come to a decision.

If i'm in a 2014 335xi running FBO on a HFC DP, i'm on JB4 map 2 with plans on switching to BM3 as soon as I switch these plugs, which plugs would I go with?

Options seem like

NGK 5992 gapped to .022" or NGK 97506 gapped to .020".

Thank you for any help I really appreciate it, I've been leaning the NGK 5992 route.

Awesome, sounds like well have similar setups. When I return back to stock to sell the car will I have to return back to stock plugs?

I would. Just keep the old ones around. Mine had only about 3,000 miles on them when I swapped so good to have around when going back to stock

Yes. Although I did not gap the OEM plugs when I installed them a couple months back. I was told not to as they were 'pre-gapped'.

I don't believe gapping them has as much to do with their performance as heat range, but it is certainly part of the equation so I made sure to gap the NGKs to 0.020

I have a JB Stage 1, ER charge pipe. AFE air filter and a VRSF fmic. I'm thinking I should get the NGK 97506 and gap them at .20. It seems to be the popular setup to go with.

Can someone explain why you need to use something other than the OEM Bosche plugs on the stock turbo? Are your logs showing timing corrections? Are you getting misfires?

I really don't get it, from what I've learned from multiple tuners the stock OEM plugs are fine for almost all N55 applications, unless you get way into the 650+HP range the OEM plugs work well.

Even harkes post above gives hard data showing the OEM plugs ran better than aftermarket.

I just don't get it, I see spark plugs threads/chats all the time with no reason what so ever as to why the switch.

I'd love to see some logs showing an actual improvement from different plugs (not old worn out OEM's vs new aftermarket)

You probably don't need to get new plugs with your setup, stock ones will be fine. Colder plugs gapped down are needed once you start running more aggressive tunes (higher boost)

The more boost/hp you make the hotter your engine/spark plug gets. It can get so hot that it will ignite the fuel before the spark from the plug actually ignites it. This can cause ping/knock.

Colder plugs help to prevent this. In identical spark plug types, the difference from one full heat range to the next is the ability to remove 70°C to 100°C from the combustion chamber.

E85 also helps prevent this with it's lower igniting temperature.

Yeah so I just logged some pulls, not enough as I would have liked to but I do have a couple comparable ones. Variables are all the same: car, fuel, mods etc.

BEFORE (stock plugs w/3,000 km):
5th gear pull: http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5acfab8bd10b437d64eb5fdd
4-5 pull: http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5acfab77d10b437d64eb5fdc

AFTER (NGKs):
5th gear pull: http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5b034a11d10b4326703f2d14
4-5 pull:http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5b034a12d10b4326703f2d16

Minimal difference if any... the NGKs are noticeably smoother feeling though. Not by a lot, but a little.
