Sweet baby jesus. Do they rub you first? Do it yourself and save your money and time waiting for them.

I got quoted $225/hr labor rate at a Bay Area BMW dealer. Sounds about right since even the indies quote about $165-$260/hr.

Median price for a single family home in San Francisco is something stupid like $1.7 million. Pretty insane when you consider that it will all be rubble when the San Andreas lets go.

Has anybody ever tried the Fumoto oil drain valve in their BMWs? After swearing profusely trying to get the oil plug out of my Mini Cooper (on more than one occasion) I replaced it with a Fumoto drain plug valve. It saves wear and tear on the oil pan plug hole and you never have to worry about a frozen plug.

Kies Motorsports had one once. IIRC it got sheared off by some road feature during daily driving and he lost all his oil.

Because the 328d oil drain plug points straight down, this would be a terrible idea. Fumoto valves are great on cars where the pan is more protected or where the drain points back and slightly down so it has some protection, but anything at all on the road could rip the valve out of your car.

The standard version doesn't protrude below the skid plate like the version with an extension for tubing. The access hole is small enough that it is close to impossible for anything to get leverage on the valve. I've had one on ours for over 100k with no issues.

I use another brand....but very similar to the Fumoto.
It does not hang below the bottom of the plate.

Interesting... I don't recall there being that much space from the skid plate to the drain plug but if you say it is protected then go for it. This would be my concern, and why I wouldn't even consider it personally
