Another coding ?

Set to work coding the F32 today using the Bimmercode adapter and software and everything went well except watching videos via the USB connection.

I have activated the - video via USB - option but the M4V files are not being recognized on the idrive menu.

Below the - vid via USB - option on the app there is another option regarding something to do with "codec".

Additional Video Codecs :

o - Active

o - Unknown Value

At present it is set to unknown value.

Didnt want to start randomly changing things until i asked the above question.

Cheers - Kenny

What have you managed to code with bimmercode app? Do you use the expert mode?

Just the usual stuff :

HU – Alarm Bleeps , RR Warning sounds , Tyre Temps ,No Volume PopUp , Start Animation , Video USB , Rear Camera Zoom.

FEM – Ambient Lighting , Angel Eye brightness , Shut off nav (doors) , LED lights in reverse , Mirror Tilt in reverse.

KOMBI – Digi Speed in cluster , M Perf Logo in cluster.

Not tried Xpert mode as i am just finding my feet with the basic version at present.

For the £50 initial outlay (adapter + coding access) it is certainly decent value.

Not sure if i would be changing anything more with the app as i am pretty content with the car and all its bells + whistles as it stands at present.

The additional codecs will allow you to play more than just MP4, but it wont allow you to play all videos. Im not sure which ones it wont.

The main problem , at present , is that i cant see (listed) the videos i have on the USB stick .

I can see all music files but not the videos , i can see them on the laptop via the USB but not in the car ?

So that is my first issue , they may play if i can get the idrive to recognize and select them.

Are you using the Browse folder option in the idrive? Thats the only way Ive been able to see videos on a usb stick. It should still show them, but if the codec isnt enabled, then it will just play sound.

All sorted cheers, Schoolboy error.

I foolishly expected the video files to be in the same folder as the music files , as thats where they were put.

Did the browse thing and found them , they do play properly but not in wide screen which i believe is more to do with the resolution sizing which i will deal with later.

Every day is a school day as they say.
