F30 335i Muffler Delete
I have a F30 335i. I went to a muffler shop to get a muffler delete. They said they couldn't because of the active exhaust sensor by the tips. That if they removed the muffler, I would get a check engine light. Does anyone know if this is true? Or a way to fix it? Also does anyone with an F30 335i have a muffler delete? Thanks

Stupidity at work, apparently. There is a valve that opens and closes the driver's side pipe coming out of the muffler. It stays closed during cold start to control the sound (louder when the turbo wastegate is open), then opens depending on throttle position or if you're in sport/sport+ mode. There are no "sensors". You can disconnect the servo connector when it's in the open position so it will stay open with no resultant CEL.

The active exhaust flap is not even part of the muffler. its part of the exhaust pipe coming out of the muffler. so when you to the muffler delete they could keep that piece of the pipe and weld it back in. I have mine unplugged in the open position and it does not throw an engine code on the dash although it does store a fault in the DME which is not a big deal. go ahead and take it out just unplug it and tape up the connector and zip tie it away.

I wouldn't do a muffler delete; it is likely too make the car too loud and wake neighbors up and annoy them. But I guess it's OK for individuals that are inconsiderate and don't care about that stuff.
