Just bought a BMW USA fleet car
Hi: I just bought a 2019 430i M-Sport with 6MT in Glacier Silver Metallic/Black Dakota Leather and 7k miles. Drives beautifully, just had it 3 days. Dealer told me it was a BMW USA car, and looking at the recent destinations on the NAV it did keep close to BMW USA's corporate headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, so that checks out. How can I know more about my car and how it may have been used? I can imagine something pretty innocuous like being used as a BMW Genius trainer or as reference for whoever writes the owner's manual, but it could also be a (gasp!) press car, duly abused. Anybody know how BMW USA fleet cars has been used?

Congratulations. At 7K miles, one oil change could already be done. Worth checking. Otherwise, factory warranty will give you a peace of mind.

I found something interesting in the Monroney sticker, it says sold to BMW LLC and below that says Hasslinger Company Car. Doing some sleuthing (i.e. googling) I found out Hasslinger is an Austrian steel construction company doing many projects for BMW. The destinations furthest past in time in the car's NAV were in South Carolina, so the car being assigned to some Hasslinger personnel working on BMW South Carolina plant seems plausible. Also, it gives me a bit of comfort thinking that an Austrian Civil Engineer using a car supplied by his/her employer would be very unlikely to be hooning it. (That's just a theory, the question about how BMW USA still interests me) PD: Nice nickname (A320 or B737?)

Congratulations on the purchase!! 6-MT, not many out there any more.
I don't think you have anything to worry about. At 7k mile, the car has barely broken in. And I agree with you that an employee (or affiliated employee) is very unlikely to abuse his/her own company's product, especially for someone drives a manual car. Enjoy your ride. |

Don't stress yourself out, you purchased a great car. I wouldn't be surprised if more than 30% of the beamers you see on the road are retired loaners and/or dealer cars. I've only purchased/leased retired loaners. It's also the only reason you were able to snag such a good deal on a, basically, new car. Furthermore, as stated above, your car is a 6MT, which was likely driven by an experienced driver.
Congrats/Enjoy! |

Fleet car
Hasslinger is the name of the BMW employee the car was assigned to. No worries about the vehicle. Most employees take very good care of their cars. It’s a benefit that one does not want to jeopardize by abusing the vehicle.

I am always very nice to BMW loaners! Once detailed one because the previous user had spilled a coffee in it! Had a Gran Coupé a few weeks ago and drove it like my own.

All fleet/cars are just that - BMW vehicles that are for marketing purposes and not track use, so think of it as an extended demo but from BMW.
If you're able to get one of these and are looking for a demo, they are subjected to more discounts you would normally get from a dealerships demo fleet because these cars come with credits from BMW on invoice so you are able to negotiate off the dealerships gross plus BMW additional credit as a fleet/kilometre/miles credit. |
