I was never fully satisfied with my exhaust, and i wasn't expecting much from the beginning. I got the older version too. smh.

This is becoming one of the great mysteries , need to update my stock and since have a 2k drive coming up in July to the ring woudl be perfect to run it in.

Just which to go for. Has anyone found any good side by side videos of the different models sounding.

Is it far to say the 18302354340 is the version to go for then to get better sound
https://soundcloud.com/haitham-al-lawati
Did come across these two sound bites of the 349 and 340 exhasusts and if correct the 340 does sound a lot better
For me one key is removable tips, Car came with black BMW performance tips as I hate chrome so rather carry them over

340 much louder than 339. The size is big difference when compare two. I got 339 first then change to 340. Pipe just whatever u want. Carbon one will looks awesome.

Did you all do the "golf-tee" mod? That makes the MPE exhaust a lot louder!

ok plot thickens enquired with a local UK dealer about the exhaust as they offer them with nice discount. Gave them the two numbers 18302354340 or 18302354339 and they claim they want fit on a F30 335i as bore is larger so all bit confused now

Having double checked against the VIN matches to 18302354340 model number so happy days. Now just to get it under the radar and fitted unless anyone can suggest a similar good alternative for around £600

Hey Magic77, I am in the UK, I have a manual 435i, I want the 340 exhaust. My official BMW dealer says 340 is for Automatics only, for Manual I need 339. Is this true?

An independent says he can fit either 339 or 340, I just need to tell him what part I want to have, he's not aware of the US vs EU discussion.

How did you obtain your exhaust in the UK, and are you auto or manual?

Cheers mate

Your dealer's confused. My manual has the 340 installed just fine.

Thanks a lot Amoeba. What's the confusion do you think? Checking realOEM website BMW parts using these numbers doesn't clarify the matter.

So how is the exhaust working out for you on the manual? Did you just ask the dealer to order the 340 part number?

Thanks

Hi I got mine from Harry Fairbarn and fitted it myself. Just gave them the part number and that was it. When they double checked it against the chassis it said it was a match. I dont see a reason why you cant simpy request the other one. Fitting is a doddle took about 15 minutes. The OEM pipe has a small dimple where you need to cut it so just used a chain cutter from halfords and it then just bolts on. The Sleeve it comes with then just needs torquing up to the printer amount and you are done.

Your dealer is right: in Europe, exactly like in Canada, 340 is provided only for AT and not for MT. In USA 340 is available for both of them.
The reasons? Nobody knows, but remember that til july 2014 in EU you could install only 339 but BMW at least understood that 339 sound was really poor...

Have to agree I aimed at 340 model and was not going for any other ie 339 after finding this page
https://soundcloud.com/haitham-al-lawati

It was easy the 340 just sounds so much better and after abotu 300 miles mine is starting to get very good.

Dealer still saying only 339 is proper for the 435i Manual. Even if I order 340 in on my own, and have this dealer fit it, will they reject it do you think?

Will have to speak to dealer YET AGAIN. These guys just don't seem to be tuned into the right wavelength...

I really cant see how a a 340 would not fit.
Fitting is easy any exhaust place can do it for you or just DIY found it easiest. Took 10 minutes

Just re-reading this thread. Just to be clear I'm trying to get the 340 exhaust installed on a Manual 435i. My UK dealer has no problems ordering a 340, he just says it's for Automatics only. He said he can try to fit it to the Manual car but can't confirm it will work.

Gio and Magic77, you're both in Europe, am I correct that you're running 340 on a manual 435i?

Sorry to belabour this, just want to be sure! Much appreciated

Eisenmann sounds like a bit of an animal but very enticing, while Akro sounds a bit more BMW... hmmm, tough choice....
