Had fun with BimmerCode.
Coded option to have a fog light turn on when turning (triggered by turn signal)
Mirrors fold with lock, unfold with unlock (from key)
Start with auto-off disabled
Decoupled ambient lighting from rest of dash lighting
iDrive off after opening driver door

Funny. I coded off the fog light on turn. Noticed it really didn't do much except burn down the filaments in the fog lights.

I thought I'd give it a try but this is good to know, thank you!

Refitted the 400M with brand Dunlop winters. Car feels different adding 4+ lbs of wheel back to each corner.

So my MSport brakes are driving me nuts with the squealing....

The inspection in Mid October has me at 4mm- 5mm remaining.

I have the Extended Maintenance package through BMW.

Thoughts please - are the covered to replace.

These are 2015 pads... are they the same or better?

My wife hates them and they're quite frankly embarrassing on a $50k car!

I have the stock pads from my M Performance kit as spare - bought the kit in 2019 - it has the "bitier, less shitty" pads. I swapped them to PowerStop dustless units and they squeak a little in the cold but I can deal with it. If you want to try my spare pads I am in SE PA also.

Thank you Sir. I have the car booked in for the 29th.... if that comes back as a 'no change' deal I may take you up on that.

Much appreciated.... if I can get them close to 4mm they'll replace....

If you want to look at non-stock options the Thompson folks suggested the Hawk HPS pads as an upgrade to stock. I was mostly concerned with performance, not noise, so you may want to check with them on that front. When my cars are due I am going to give those a shot.

Otherwise you have the blue brakes right? I have all of the stuff from the grey kit piled up in my garage if it's of any use to you, just taking up space. Took off a while ago when we upgraded to red BBK.

Yes I have the blue brakes. If they can be replaced due to wear I'll get it done under the extended maintenance plan....

I'm hoping that is the case as no charge (already baked in and paid)! If not I'll have to see.

The slow crawl braking is excruciating on the ears!

I had this issue, there are quite a few posts about it in the Brakes section. I cringed every time I knew I had to stop the car with people around. It got to the point where I didn't even want to drive to places like the mall because it was so bad and embarrassing. I have the M Sport Brakes (blue calipers). Dealer told me this was normal for the upgraded M sport brakes. They wouldn't do anything for me under CPO.

I tried swapping the pads to aftermarket ceramic ones, but the issue continued and actually got much worse. So I swapped rotors to Zimmermann's, and swapped to Akebono premium euro ceramic pads. I wanted low dust, and no noise, with solid stopping power. And that's what I've finally got. Haven't heard one squeal at all since install. Wheels stay nice and clean from no dust.

Many times simply swapping the pads won't help this issue because the rotors get grooves over time from the old pads. So the grooves of the new pads won't align with the old rotors, making them squeal. So it seems to be generally recommended to replace both pads and rotors at once if you want to fully eliminate the issue. Your rotors may also be glazed as well, and you can't safely resurface BMW rotors.

If you are forced to source your own parts, recommend RockAuto for the pads and Newparts for the rotors. Again, lots of info for you in the Brakes section of these forums.

Thanks for this. I'll see the outcome in a couple weeks with luck. I searched the forum and a lot was older.

I had same issue last year in the cold but this is much worst... agree on the mall... I had to pull up in front of a hospice with a number of people outside.... random person said in earshot of my wife 'needs new brakes' - nope, just decent ones!

Decoupled the ambient lighting from the cluster dimming. Wow, what a difference! (No Blockbuster video jokes, please) 🤪

Added Alcantara sun visors (Bimmermasterpieces)and open pore carbon headlight switch surround (carbonfibermods)

The sun visors look fantastic. Much better then the plastic version with yellow warning signs the car came with. Matches other Alcantara interior highlights. The colour matches perfectly.

Pricey. Hard to say if it's worth it. Depends how bad the cheap plastics bother you.

Their ad says they reduce the amount of plastic in the cars interior. Interesting, but aren't the visors covered in Alcantara, which is … plastic. Better plastic, but still plastic

More than I thought... not terrible... going to think about it. The white stitching works with my armrest and handbrake!

Allows you to turn up the ambient lights enough so you can see them while still being able to have the dash lights at a low setting.
