what BM3 tune was used on the car in this thread? Was is a Stage 1 93 octane tune?
per my discussions with protuningfreaks an FMIC is REQUIRED before you can run stage 2. My question- I plan to use BM3 on my m235i with MPE. Is there any benefit to installing a catted downpipe and running Stage 1 or will the gains be nominal? |

gains will be minimal with between stage 1 stock cat and stage 1 cat hi flow dp. If you're running stage 1 don't worry about spending $800 on a catted hi flow dp, just run stock.

aftermarket FMIC is never 100% required. If you're doing pulls e.g. in minus 10 degrees C ambient, your IAT probably will be ~25 degrees C at the end of the long pull, considering stock IC has less pressure drop, probably you will do pull even in shorter time. If you'll do the same pull at 25-30 degrees C ambient, you will get 70-80 degrees C at the end of the pull which is not acceptable (average aftermarket will have 35-40C IAT after same pull) and result 30-40hp power loss. One more disadvantage of aftermarket IC that it will heatsoak much more than stock in the stop-go city traffic as its fully metal and some guys use not only metal CP but also metal boost pipe going from turbo which catches heat from engine bay more. Check that most car manufacturers don't do intercoolers with metal connections, most of them are plastic and it's not because of saving money lol. To summarize all of this- big aftermarket IC is not always win/win situation, like some of their sellers trying to convince you in this forum stock m2 with stock ic (which is 1:1 the same for all F2x/F3x series N55 engines) and stock dp does Nordschleife in 7 seconds better than e92 m3, so it heatsoaks, but not that bad like IC sellers try to tell you ) if you're running under M2 power (like pwg stage 2), probably you don't need aftermarket IC at all. aftermarket FMIC basically does not add power it just keeps power for a longer time than stock OEM FMIC.

Sorry to post to an old thread..
M235i MT has a ZF S6-45 transmission which I believe is rated for max 470Nm(346 ft.lbs) of torque. Has this ever been looked at and/or investigated? I have been wanting to do the same Stage 2 flash on my 435i and I have the same transmission so I have been looking around to find answers to the torque rating limitation. |

However, I am not sure if I should keep my OEM flywheel (I would probably replace it with a new one when I am changing the clutch) or should I also get the flywheel for 335is. They are different part numbers: F32 435i: 21-20-7-640-733 E92 LCI 335is: 21-21-7-603-616 Not sure if you know the about the differences or anyone else can chime in
