Is it still the case tyre places would rather not fix them?

Popped out in the car today and the pressure monitor went off, down to just under 2.0bar, went back home and sure enough the tyre has a nail in it. Tyres only done about 1-2k so would rather repair than replace assuming nail is in a place it's repairable.....?

A local independent plugged a hole in a similar location on a run flat for the in-laws car over the break (maybe a little further off the corner)

So best avoid the chains, Find a local and you might get lucky. But I think a lot will depend on the location of the hole.

My fitter would definitely repair that assuming once the tyre is off there is no damage to the sidewall (Depends on how long the nail is)

He's a local back street guy though, as said, most chains will refuse to do it

You had better replace all 4 tyres, and those on any cars within 1/4mile... just in case the xdrive has a meltdown

If its been running ay 2.0 bar then IMO it would not have damaged the side walls.

It could be too close to the edge for them to repair it though.

As some have said in the past, repair kits cost c£5 on eBay. If you are not in a rush try a DIY job if all else fails.

Try an independent. It's in the thickest part of the tyre and not too near the sidewall
I had a tyre specialist repair one of my RFTs a few months ago and it's been fine. Couldn't even see where it had been repaired and zero pressure loss since

you can get that plugged even though your not supposed to fix them. lucky it's not on side wall

I read on this forum somewhere that this company are good at fixing runflats without any argy-bargy.

You can get them repaired under certain conditions, Bridgestone even advise you can repair a run flat now depending on how far and how fast the tyre was driven on when flat.

It dropped to about 1.9 I only did 70 on it for about 5 - 10 sec while I fired up the tyre screen in idrive then limped home about 50 tops, only did a couple of miles.

Been out for the day come back and it’s still 1.9, so I’ve pumped it up and my local place will look at it tomorrow saying they’ll repair if no damage. I’ll keep you posted.

Goodyear seem the the best bet for rft replacement, any other recommendations for a worse case scenario...? might switch to non rft for the front and do rears when needed, what the best non rft? (Just in case!)

Result, all repaired 18 quid instead of 350 for new tyres so happy with that!

They had to do it again as first time it was still leaking air so makes me wonder how it would work with those diy kits that if it didn’t work first time it would be a pita trying to redo.....

Didnt work the 1st time? Weird, I cant even see how that would be possible. Unless the plug fell out.

Had a similar problem only last week. Centre tread slow puncture. Independent tyre fitter was very happy to repair as there was no damage to sidewalls. Franchise dealers wouldn't touch it! Bridgestone now say repair for RFT is often not an issue - obviously common sense required!

I got one tyre repaired by a local tyre place, no probs.

Got another puncture & took it back there - muppets marked my alloy!��

Thankfully, BMW changed the alloys in September due to corrosion - no mention of a puncture repaired tyre thankfully, I was awaiting a call to tell me they couldn’t put my old tyres back on.

It has happened to me twice (different tyres) - My independent guy fixed it the first time. The second time he still fixed it for me but said it was best to replace the tyre.
