Has anybody ever had an issue with a dealership not willing to do the install if I don't buy the MPPSK from them? None of the local dealers (Denver) are willing to budge much on price of the MPPSK compared to sites like getbmwparts.com, globalimportantsbmw and such. I was thinking of ordering it from sites, having it shipped to me and taking it in.
I am awaiting a call back from the closet dealership to see if they would but haven't heard back yet. |

I've gotten quotes from three different dealerships and cheapest labor I got was $550ish so I'd say that's good?

I just had the MPPSK installed yesterday on my 2018 340xi. Total installed with taxes and carbon fiber tips came to $3850. Out of that $412 was the labor for install.

Cold start delete stopped the rattle I had from the MPPSK exhaust valves on start up. Also have a vibration / rattle noise in comfort when accelerating. Definitely no contact with the heat shields or brace so decided to put the standard exhaust back on.

can the tune be bought separately in any way? maybe the dealer can do this? I'm taking the MPPSK exhaust off my 340i (straight piping it, it's a racecar now lol) and putting it on my GF's 340i. I'm sure the sound will improve without the tune but would like to consider that if possible.

No. Only sold and type-approved as a set (software + exhaust).

The only thing I don't know is how the valve activation will work without the dealer installed firmware. Likely won't.

The valve control is unchanged by MPPSK. Same as stock. If stock valve works with tunes, so will the MPPSK exhaust valves.
And yes - the MPPSK is arguably the most conservative "Stage 1" available. Consequently also the safest.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!
I am looking to get some honest feedback on two exhaust systems that I am interested in. Looking at both versions below from the DP back. MPPSK and Dinan. I love the way both of them sound. I love the Dinan price even better. I know the Dinan doesn't come with the tune but I am thinking about getting one later on in the spring time. Thank you, JB

So what should the feedback be based on....? Just sound?
The main advantage of the MPPSK is that it gives you a state of the art valved exhaust system (which is effectively a straight pipe in Sport), a mild (but 100% safe) tune and fully retains your factory warranty (and increases the value of the car). If you don't care about warranty and the tune (or value of the vehicle), spending so much money on MPPSK just to get hold of the exhaust is unreasoned. Go for any other you like. I know nothing about Dinan, but Akrapovic and Remus are the direct competitors of the MPPSK exhaust. They also come with a price tag however.

Thanks Skyhigh. I have heard both in person and I like both. I also like the valved option on the MPE and the Dinan doesn't have it.
Just wish it wasn't $4k. I dont mind paying for quality and all of that, but the $4k price tag is just crazy to me.

You can get hold of MPPSK for much less than 4K....
(Random example: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1774775) This said, if you are really only interested in the exhaust bit and don't care about the rest - it is most likely not worth it. On the other hand - an Akrapovic Evolution exhaust would not be (much) cheaper.

Skyhigh, thanks for the link.
I am interested in the whole MPPSK. I want the tune and the full exhaust. The link you provided might be the icing on the cake if I can get it at a reasonable price. At the end of the day, the MPPSK is the route I want to take to be honest.

first time posting go easy on me
I was charged $550 for the install and I got the exhaust shipped directly to the dealer as someone advised on another forum. They had it done pretty fast. car gets louder and louder its been 3-4 months since install and the ecu is constantly getting used to my crazy shit - my up shift habit of letting off the gas soon after the boost hits causes farts and pops at the same time. I gotta get a mic on the back of this thing.
here's some clips i took (excuse the titles ) I'm planning on putting up better videos that actually do it justice. looking back, the noises there are easily attainable but in a better tunnel its absolutely brutal. I'm gonna replace the videos eventually or just add better ones. i want to post some clips of that brutal up-shift fart i was talking about. I'm worried about exhaust rattle and raspiness or else id really wanna go stage 2 it doesn't pop unless you want it to for those who think this is some kind of burble tune primarily. DSC off, which is the fastest and most pure mode, has no extra burbles. you need to do hard downshifts to 5-6k to get machine gun noises. Its really easy to control once you get used to it. I'm still learning. Its also constantly getting louder. (up-shift fart wise) Maybe this convinces you to get the kit its so worth it! |
